How well will Ruger's new LC380 sell? It is the LC9 only chambered for .380

The LC9 seems to have done well, but I'm not sure about the LC380, will people just say if I want a smaller gun I'll just go with the LC9? The recoil between the .380 and 9mm is not a huge difference so what will be the attraction to the LC380?

Would you buy the LC380 over the LC9 for reduced recoil or what?

:triniti:

I have experience with the older LCP Great and accurate little gun.
As the LC380 vs the LC9 I'd go for the 9.
just my .02

I am interested in the LC.380 for my wife. I considered the LCP but I wanted the safety features and chamber of the LC9...so that's what I got myself. Unfortunately, the 9 in such a small frame makes my wife not enjoy shooting it. She likes the .45 1911 better. The potential for a more controllable small frame pistol in the .380 has me intrigued.

I agree. As soon as I saw it, I thought about my wife who enjoys my P229, but dislikes the PF9, which all in all feels like the LC9 when fired. Plus she has a hard time with the slides of both the LC9 and the PF9. So, I can't help but wonder if she'll enjoy the LC380, and actually use it. Better than nothing for sure. Seems like a great solution for issues that cause people to not carry or practice.

I think the LC380 will sell fairly well. There are quite a few people, especially women, who want the .380 cartridge but not in a tiny (i.e. uncomfortable to shoot) pistol like the LCP, TCP, P3AT, etc. The Bera Thunder and Walther PK380 are 2 examples of pistols in that class that sell well and we receive a lot of positive feedback on. They're still very concealable yet much more pleasant to shoot than their tiny cousins. I think it's a good idea by Ruger to tap into that market.

I think it will sell. My wife can't manipulate the slide well on my LC9 but she has terrible technique and won't listen to me. It might be tough for a woman but I think that correct technique can overcome a stiffer recoil spring.

A Ruger rep. told me at the shot show they brought out the LC380 for the old ladies that can't rack the slide on the LC9.
