Ruger American Rifle

I will be buying a Ruger American Rifle 30-06 this week and I was wondering if anyone has one already and what type of ammo works the best through it or which grain is better. I always used shotguns for whitetail hunting and am kind of new to the rifle section. Any feed back on how it shoots or which ammo people have put through it that get good groupings. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the American rifle, but my M77 likes 180 grain Remington Core Loct (sp?) bullets. Get a good scope (I suggest a Leupold) and try different ammo till you find one it likes. The 30-06 is a good choice because will make things dead in a hurry. Shoot straight and fill your tags.

I like leupold scopes but they are pretty pricey. I found a nice Nikon Prostaff I found that has the bdc reticles that I might give a try.
