Shot a buddy's New Ruger 1911 today. It was AWESOME! Smooth right out of the box. I'll be the first to admit I'm no expert shooter but this thing, WOW! Super accurate. Shoots well beyond my abilities. Absolutely fun to shoot too. I was worried when I heard they were cast not forged but that fear is surely put to rest now. Excellent fit and finish. Its definately on my list. If you get a chance to shoot one, don't pass it up.

What kind of price did he pay for it? Thinking about getting one myself.
He said he paid $699 @ Academy Sports and Outdoors. A little high I think. But I figure with a little time it should come down some. Plus, its stainless. Which is normally higher. When they come out of with a blued version and I'm sure they will, it should be cheaper.

I've been a fan of Ruger revolvers for many years, but never really looked into their pistols. However, after buying an LCP about six months ago, I'm convinced that just about anything they're making now is worthy of a second look.

I have an LCP as a backup. But it's definitely only for firefights in elevators. And the scare factor of a water gun. It's all personal preferences though. But I'm sticking to Kimber 1911s. It's the best marketed handgun out there and you DEFINITELY get what you pay for... Not just paying for that Kimber stamp, but moreover for pure function and beauty.

I have a Kimber TLE II and at least at the range the Ruger I shot gave my Kimber a run for its money. But I too love my kimber and will likely never give it up.

I did research for a couple months on what 1911 to purchase. It came down to the Ruger and Sig Sauer. I went with the Sig, and am very pleased with my choice. Kudos to Ruger though, they make a fine product.
