Mitt Romney suspended his presidential campaign Thursday, telling a stunned conservative group that continuing his uphill battle against John McCain would hurt the Republican Party and make it more likely that the Democratic candidate would win the general election in November.

“If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention … I’d forestall the launch of a national campaign and frankly I’d be making make it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win,” Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference. “Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.”

Looks like Mccain has it in the bag. Sad day for Conservatives. The one person I dislike more than Clinton and Obama is probably get the nomination..

While I was hoping Mike Huckabee would do better, I would sooner vote for McCain than either Clinton or Obama. Honestly, I'm glad Romney decided to drop out.

If McCain is the choice then I may have to vote 3rd party. I don't vote for the lesser of two evils any more if there are other choices.

In doing that you may be giving the General election to the wrong person. Think back to Perot and remember.

Wrong person

In doing that you may be giving the General election to the wrong person. Think back to Perot and remember.

Trouble is I am not sure that both are not the wrong person. The reason we keep getting the wrong person over and over again is every one keeps tellings us that no one else has a chance. It has become a self fullfilling prophesy. So we get big government,NWO, big spend run up the national debt buracrats from the Republicrats. If we do not wake up in this country and see that both parties have been high jacked by traitors to our constitution things will keep getting worse and worse.

While I tend to agree with you, I believe McCain would be a MUCH better choice than either Clinton or Obama. I would have liked Huckabee to be the nominee, but maybe we can hope for a McCain/ Huckabee ticket.

Don't Count HUCKABEE out!

I continue to be appalled at how UNFAIR AND UNBALANCED FoxNews and Sean Hannity have been to Mike Huckabee!

For years I have been a loyal follower, listener; NO MORE!

Mike Huckabee can still win it easily and as the Architect FAILED to point out; he did not consider ANY of the unbound and super delegates that are up for grabs NOW that only John McCain and Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul remain....
Just to name a few things the Architect FAILED TO INCLUDE IN HIS CALCULATION !

WE NEED TO SET FOX NEWS AND THE REST OF THE BIASED MEDIA STRAIGHT!

I PROMISE you that this U.S. born citizen, Marine Core Veteran, gun owner, life-long republican will NOT vote for Second Amendment sell-out, Amnesty loving, Free Trade sell-out, Keating 5 Criminal... John McCain!

I don't get as much media over here in Iraq, thank God! But I think that McCain has the nom pretty well sewn up. I see no way that Huckabee can win. Has anyone done the math and seen if there are enough primaries left that if by some miracle he won in all of them he could challenge McCain? I doubt it if Romney dropped out then I am pretty sure that it is already decided. Now the bigger question in my mind is are we too pissed off about that to give the white house to Hillary? I will always vote against her no matter who is on the opposing ticket anyone but her.

Give a little!

I heard on the radio that on the stimulant issue "the President gave a little."
"The Congress gave a little." "The Senate gave a little." and "the House gave a little."

Well, that means; what are the American citizens getting? VERY LITTLE!

Just my two cents.....

I am so puzzled by the fact that most everyone I know, including those on the forums I vist, that do not like Hillery but yet she is so popular, it just does not make any sence!

I am glad Mitt dropped out. Since he has dropped out Mike Huckabee's rasing money on his website has grown by leaps and bounds.. don't count him out because he is not a quitter. He also has a very strong non-quitter wife behind him.

There's a difference

between being a quitter and not being able to win. He (Huckabee) simply doesn't have the ability to be a successful Presidential candidate. Maybe in a term or two. There are some good things that he represents but while it is fine to send a signal as to where your stand on certain issues, there comes a time when you have to address the basics. As mentioned earlier, there might be some potential in a McCain/Huckabee ticket but, then again, maybe not.

So, who else do you see that has a shot at providing a bit more balance to the Rep ticket?
