Remington looking to leave NY? Could be.

One of the nation’s largest gun manufacturers, Remington Arms, has looked at sites around Nashville for a potential corporate relocation or expansion that would likely include hundreds of manufacturing jobs.

The Madison, N.C.-based company, which is part of the nation’s largest firearms company and has its largest plant in Ilion, N.Y., has scouted sites near Nashville’s airport, Lebanon and in Clarksville, Tenn.

Good, I hope that they do. Why should Remington contribute to a state that doesn't support its business. The majority of the voters put the anti gun politicians in office and deserve the consequences. Those who didn't vote for them should move to a free state and leave N.Y. to the mental and moral defectives and freeloaders. The people of N.Y. City should keep their diminutive tyrant in his little private Utopia and not burden the rest of the country with his BS.

Remington also has facilities in NC and AR. They are expanding their ammunition facility in Arkansas.
Please don't lump all NY state citizens in the same boat. I grew up a few miles from the Remington plant in NY, and had many relatives who worked there. Many of us are fed up with the liberal attitudes and politicians in New York City, who dominate the state politics in Albany by sheer force of numbers. There are a lot of gun rights supporters in NY state (upstate, as opposed to the city), who are fighting the gun control machine and governor Cuomo. Please don't judge the whole state by what happens in New York City.

Something I have heard that seems to make sense is gun manufacturers in NY will be in violation of the law for making certain firearms and magazines, because they will then have firearms that can fire more than 7 rounds and magazines that can fire more than 7 rounds that were made after the law went into effect. Therefore, in order to continue production they would have to move.

Unfortunately, I do not have any citations to back this up; it was just something I had heard in conversation. If someone knows the NY law more specifically, I'd love to hear if this true.

If they are leaving purely because of the draconian attitude of state officials, then I applaud their decision even the more.

I know there are some good people in New York state, but they should vote the liberals out or move to a more friendly state. I would love to see Remington come to Texas...

Great, why would they want to stay in NY when NY government hates everything they stand for?????? They are more than welcome in very gun friendly Kentucky. Would probable be given tax breaks for relocating.

Amen. Wayyyy too many people are quick to talk big. If NY fails to turn over this law, which shouldnt be too hard (coming from an attorney in the trials), the rest of the country will eventually follow. Even precious Ol Texas would soon be overrun with liberals. NY has some of the best scenery if you're an outdoorsman, which there is. We can vote and vote, but if NYC wants to control the whole state, then our votes are pretty much useless. Some people who think they are better due to the state they live in. They need a reality check. It wont stop with NY and California if everyone moves away from the problem.

Read above. "Some"? You clearly werent at the February rally in Albany. There were more than a "few" people there.

I'm sorry for NY gun owners and know that there are still good people in the state. Much of NY is still a beautiful state where hunting is a very long term tradition. But what the Hell happened there? How could the entire state become subservient to a few tyrants from the cities in the state? How could Cuomo possibly be elected governor? I can't even understand how the people of NYC could possibly elect that disgusting, petty, little tyrant as mayor for 3 terms. Does anyone in NY understand how an outsider, living a free state, could question the sanity of people in your state?

Not being from NY (but right over the border of NY & NJ in PA) I know what you are talking about. The difference between NYC / Long Island to Upstate is like night and day.

What many people don't get about NY is the undeniable fact that upstate is being drown in laws that are being pushed by reps from the city, which as we all know is so far over the edge liberal it's not funny.

Best thing that could happen to NY state is the city / long island became their own state.

Folks in Oregon feel your pain. Portland does the same. Take out LA and San Francisco and who knows how much that would change California politics.

With the legislation already passed and coming down the pike I will be amazed if any gun manufacturers are in states like NY in 5 yrs.
