Religion of peace NOT!!

no reference necessary, my views on relgion will just stir mud. why bother?

Well... it doesn't seem like there is any rules being violated. Im really interested. Do you feel that your beliefs are not important enough to be heard?

Beware of the baiters here. Regrettably, this is not an uncommon occurance here. They are quick to draw you in, agitate you, and then "tell" on you when you break the forum rules.

On a more positive note, welcome to the site!

Thank you so much! actually my friend steve at bass pro reccomended that I sign up.

Jesus advises his followers to mutilate themselves by cutting off their hands and plucking out their eyes. He says it's better to be "maimed" than to suffer "everlasting fire." 18:8-9
Kind of scary ain't it? Makes one want to follow instruction, and open the pocket book, when another tactic, "guilt" is applied.

I think the Jury is still out on Koresh and the Davidians as well...

Even the few non-biased subject matter experts say that the Koresh and the Davidians were cloaked in such secrecy that they only know what they have found out since the Waco raid(s)...

Which is obviously far from conclusive for anybody to pass judgment on Koresh and the Davidians...

I've done some extensive reading on Waco and the Branch Davidians with the conclusion that Koresh was a fanatic that changed even farther a cult cut off of the Seventh Day Adventists. He was a bottle short of a six pack and thought himself a prophet of God. The jury may never come back on this but that's just my opinion on him.

I understand ronwill and I agree that probably Koresh was a false prophet and a cult leader. Where I am coming from is that with all that may have been wrong with him I do not think the real reason the BATF went after him was in anyway to protect the kids. In fact BATF had no jurisdiction in that area and that is why they had to come up with trumped up charges of weapons violations. They had an agenda and it had noting to do with the children.

I'm with you on the fact that the feds screwed things up big time. Remember that, sometimes, when LE can't get someone for one thing they'll go after them for another. Think of Al Capone. They couldn't pin murder on him so they went after him for tax evasion. Again Waco was a terrible tragedy that could have been prevented. But we mustn't overlook why they went after Koresh.

You really need to read the entire passage rather than just a partial quote to get the actual meaning of the text......

Many don't understand that behind the verse is a message. Some of them were never meant to be taken literally but as a learning tool.

How do you know Mr Koresh was not a prophet of God? There are several televangelists, and many others who claim to be prophets, and other biblical titles. How does anyone know for sure? The jews don't think much of Jesus.
Yes, its true about LE getting you for what ever they can. O.J. Simpson comes to mind.

kind of typical of trolls to advocate the banning of something yet still troll the area instead of moving to a more comfortable sub forum for their conversations and siting the rules they think apply.:hang3:
oh wait I forgot, trolls only troll they don't add anything but trollery. :to_pick_ones_nose:
I love the new rating system. So much better than ignore!

Come on Icy you already know the answer to this one.... Prophets are bore out with their predictions becoming true, and although I must admit I have absolutely no knowledge of what Koresh wrote, if any of it have been true then there would be an following yet today....

but I bet his last prediction came true.... when he saw the tanks comming..... it went something like this... "OH S*** WE'RE SCREWED NOW!"

+1 the Bible is a huge collection of Parables, just a a few short versions, the mustard seed, house on sand, log in own eye, many of the stores are meant to be lessons. But the Qua ran on the other hand is meant to be rule of law.

The "full" quote, according to the New American Standard Bible (NASB) translation of the Bible, reads (Jesus speaking):

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB)

This is not a story, but his words.

The Koran (Quran, Qur’ān, or Al-Qur’ān) was a guide just as the Bible is. The Ten Commandments were the basis of our law, given by God. The difference is those who followed and practiced Sharia law took the Koran to the extreme. I must say that, although we disagree on this, it's good to be able to discuss the differences without anger.

There is an art to taking portions of a speech, story, saying, or book and making it sound the way one wants to twist it to confirm to one's view of reality. A couple that I see are very proficient at it. Makes me wonder what their ulterior motive is. What drives them to openly do so. What forces are behind their misrepresenting words to convey sometimes directly opposite meanings. Why do they do it??????? I have no quarrel with an atheist nor an agnostic nor those into cults nor even ultra right wing christians(little c). What I do have as a problem are those who lie to "prove" their points that supposedly give their views a foundation. Dignity, honor, and morality are not the total possession of any group but to the individual. It is what defines who a person is. Those without it or portions of it hurt themselves and those who are not well grounded enough to know and recognize the inconsistances of their "arguments". There is a portion of some wise words that we all might do well to remember. For those who cause the "young" to stumble-it will be better that a stone be tied about their neck and drowned in the sea. One should be so very careful of the things they say, do, or type as it may be required that one explain it some day. I have done many things in my "intemperate youth" that have altered the course of other's lives in ways that I deeply wish I could change. Don't make mistakes that may "nag" you for years to come. Please never say things that are not totally true. The results of such may be an awful burden to carry later in life.

N the King James version is I have included the fore text and after as well so you can better understand the context and line of thought here..

"
26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing [5] and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."

The point of this scripture set is do not fear, follow Jesus and his teachings, and your rewards will be great! During this time period Jesus was kind of considered a rebel and was cast by some in fear for the Romans did not like him and tended to persecute and kill those that followed him and his teachings....

+1. Many people want to read the versus literally and overlook the lesson that was trying to be taught. It amazes me that anyone would think that Jesus or God would truly want anyone of their followers to mutilate themselves or purposely pick up deadly serpents (at least as a way of showing faith). Rather than read just a verse or two, the entire chapter should be read in context looking for the lesson.

Barack Hussein Obama's Connections to the Nation of Islam:

His father was Islamic, and his mother was a lover of Islam. She even married another Muslim man after Obama's blood father died.
He was born in Hawaii, which is still (to many True Christians™) a foreign country with questionable leanings. Creation Scientists classify Hawaii as: Japanese Miami.
He spent most of his youth in Muslim countries and received his early education in schools run by the Nation of Islam. As True Christians™ we believe that everything you really ever need to learn is taught in kindergarten - and in Obama's case - this fact should send shivers down that long rubbery bone that is called your spine!
His original name was “Baraka,” which is not an African name. It's an Arabic word meaning “blessed” and comes directly from the Koran. The Koran is a so-called "Holy Muslim Book," the soft pages of which every God-fearing Republican secretly uses as toilet paper due to the sensitive nature of our conservative hineys.
He was involved in several developing communities projects in Chicago which assisted poor Muslim families who have no business in our country other than to make everyone nervous.
He has visited several Muslim countries in search of his demonic mixed-race roots.
He is often seen eating at Middle Eastern restaurants and appears suspiciously fond of foods that normal people are unable to pronounce, such as tabouli
In his college days, he would take his laundry to a Muslim owned laundry mat, and would often ask people who looked like they were Muslim to change his paper money for coins, which he would then feed to machines in a ritualistic fashion.
He brags about being an excellent poker player, hinting at the fact that he is good at bluffing when it comes to his religious heritage.
He is opposed to the war on Terror – an act so brazen he may as well have whipped out a laminated “Islamic Extremist Membership” card on national TV.
He frequents shops at businesses where Muslim men and women also may be shopping or know about.

Read the entire chapter 10. You will see that Jesus was speaking of the dangers that his followers would face. Look at Matthew 10 verse 16-18. "Behold I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. And you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles."

Verse 21-22: "Now brother will deliver up brother to death and father his child and children shall rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved."

Maybe this will show that he was simply preparing them for times ahead. He knew there would be many dangers and he was letting them know that he and God would be at heir side in the battle. Again I say read the entire chapter at least, preferably the entire Bible. Don't take a verse or two and build a belief on that.

For those who claim to be so ignorant of Bible scripture, there's this thing called GOOGLE. SEEK and you will FIND. :to_pick_ones_nose:
