Two guys are out hiking. One is carrying a .22 pistol in a holster on his belt. The other guy sees the .22 and asks, "What's the gun for?" The first guy replies, "In case a bear starts chasing us!" The second guy laughs and says, "You really expect to stop a bear with that pea shooter?" The first guy answers, "I don't need to stop the bear. I just need to make damn sure that I can run faster than you."
