Funny a remake is due out shortly. Maybe movies are now warnings of things to come. If he is right then we are in for a world of it. It scares the hell out of me that this could be the scenario instead of us battling our own govt. Keep your eyes and ears open and pray.

Though today it is pretty comical in my eyes, "Red Dawn" (the original 1984 flick) was pretty scary to me. It was at a time when the Cold War was still hot, and such a thing seemed possible. Later that year, when I joined the US Army, I realized that it was pretty corny.

Any "Red Dawn" situation will come from our own country, not from some foreign force.

Yeah the story could be more fear mongering but what if it isn't? Sometimes the truth is too hard to believe so it is brushed off as hog wash. The story to me doesn't seem to be too far fetched. After all did we not hear of and see foreign troops training on our soil? What was that all about? All I can say for sure is something wicked this way comes but what exactly it is is anyone's guess especially with all the disinfo out there.

where are all the poverty stricken Mexicans supposed to get their guns? If it's a real threat, why would we not NUKE the source of the problems, supply sources, etc, hmm? We've got over 8000 nuke warheads, some of them are backpack models, some are artilllery shells, some are mines, even. We don't need planes or missiles to deliver nukes, guys.

I saw the original "Red Dawn" and noticed one thing in particular. The opposing forces went to gun dealers for their lists of gun purchasers, which would make sense in a real war scenario. As for 20,000 Spetnatz troops invading from Canada.....eh... who knows, but I guess anything is possible. Although a formidable force, I don't think they could conquer the nation by themselves. Besides, I don't think all the hunters in this country would stand by and do nothing. While that would be going on in the North, what would be happening in the East, South and West? This would make for a good conspiracy theory now that we didn't vote Obama out but, the frightening part is that it could actually happen. The Cubans may come up on dinghys and take Florida (they have most of it anyway), the Mexican cartels are taking the Southwest now so that isn't too far fetched and the South is filled with migrant Mexican farm workers. The Northeast is controlled by unions so they wouldn't let foreign troops in without a union card. Dang, all us good ol' boys down here are surrounded! We'll fight tho', fill 'um up with rot gut likker (moonshine for all you sophisticated people) and feed 'em to the alligators. Remember when people used to say, "Will the last true American leaving Florida please bring our flag with them." as a joke? Or at least we thought it was a joke. Maybe not. I guess the West coast would go to the Orientals of one brand or another. Hang on to your hats folks, it will be a rough ride!!

Would the America today be any different than Vichy France? My guess is that 51% of America would rather go along to get along with any OpFor.
All they have to say is "look, you swear you allegiance to us and we will keep your Star Buck's up and running". In other words they would be happy to accept the new normal as long as they are not inconvenienced.

With the increase in alternative media outlets, TV shows and movies about possible economic collapse, civil unrest, civil war, etc etc... however far fetched it may seem to be, shows that there is a growing number of people that are becoming interested/concerned of the idea and possiblities of it all.

So, either there are a few million crazy preppers in America... or only a few million people that may be on to something.

I'm not sure yet... What I do know is it's foolish to believe it could never happen. I hear people say the typical "this is America, that stuff can't happen here"... this is like saying that b/c I've never broken a bone, my bones are unbreakable... or b/c I have never died, I am immortal. It's foolish...

Thing about it, there have been preppers out there for our entire lives, though that is a fairly new term. I remember seriously considering it back in the late 70s, I was convinced that the country would collapse in a race war instigated by the liberals. The classifieds in the back of Soldier of Fortune magazine was packed with ads for freeze dried food, plans for bunkers, airtight containers, etc. This was a time before "the militias" hiding in the Ozarks and other remote areas were exposed as "anti-American".

As far as the "interest" it has been out there at least since the early days of the Cold War, when people were advised to build fallout shelters, etc. There have occasionally been movies about people doing it.

The TV shows about them are just another page in the book that is "reality television". I personally like the shows about hoarders and have watched the show about "cheapskates" a couple of times, which are the same thing as the preppers, just trying to appeal to different audiences. I did happen to watch NatGeo's "Preppers" show last night. Though I DO NOT consider all "preppers" nutcases, I do feel that the two preppers I saw featured last night were pretty out there, and felt that the show was to make fun of them.

Both Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity advertise long-term storage food on their shows. As they both actually talk about the products rather than just a recorded commercial, you can figure that the industry has grown enough to afford what is probably some of the most expensive advertising short of advertising on the Super Bowl. (considering they are the #2 and #3 largest radio shows in the country)

collapse, hell yes. invasion by mexicans, not going to happen. We'd nuke them, or China or anyone else that tried it. even after a collapse, the nuke missile subs will still be viable for YEARS, as beached sources of electricity, PC based info, etc. they will be able to launch for a long, long time. Much longer than any concerted group of mexicans will be able to function, it's a dead rock certainty. why would they bother with a military effort, when they UNOPPOSED get to invade us with a million more illegals every year?

If/when it happens it will be UN troops asked here by the current POTUS to see that everybody adheres to the " treaty " when it is signed and the house will be bypassed by using another mandate rather than it going through the correct process that other items must do. Simply look at the sheer numbers of mandates that were used during the last 4 years and see that not one other POTUS signed as many a 100 during their time in office. Also look at the aftermath of the hurricane Sandy and the declaration of martia law in certain towns/county's and don't overlook the so called " FEMA " camps. They opened a closed prison up there and housed 900 people and those who were housed there stated that it felt more like they were in prison rather than a place that was supposed to feel safe and comfortable. A secure " camp " has the razor wire facing out to keep people out whereas the FEMA camps have the raor wire facing in to keep people in much as a prison is wired. It will come from within our own borders and not some invading foreign force.
