Recovery Almost gone bad....

Recovery Agent
So tonight I decide that I am going to work on my off night driving our Agency's LPR vehicle... For those who dont know what that is its a License Plate Recognition Vehicle that has cameras mounted on it... So we are driving around in the hood and pass this driveway and the System alerts to a vehicle that has an alert out on it, the vehicle is parked in the driveway. The system gives you 6 Questions to answer before you can see if the vehicle is Exactly the one that's on the HOT LIST.. Questions have answered, We approach the vehicle and check the VIN and it IS in fact the vehicle on the HOT LIST... We race back to our LPR Vehicle and start backing up to the vehicle to secure it. We take it about 15 houses away before strapping it down and securing it to the Truck and These young punks come running out of that very house and start screaming and going off, they make every attempt to gain access to this vehicle. ( 2006 Chrysler 300 ) By this time I have another Agent arrive with his partner and we keep them from getting inside the car. My partner looks inside and right on the Front seat tucked next to the seat belt is a GUN!!! just as plain as day sitting there. The people start running away as we call for more assistance over the radio and we secured the Gun. Turns out to be a Taurus 45.ACP Compact. We ran the license plates through LEADS ( Law Enforcement Aided Dispatch System ) and the owner has an Ohio Concealed Carry Permit.... WTF!!! The people that came running out did not match the Owners description so we new they had NO reason to have access to the vehicle nor the GUN!

Now here's a Loaded question, Why the Heck would a person leave a loaded gun in his/her vehicle in a driveway and then not be near or at home with it?? On top of it having an Alert out for that vehicle...

These people that ran up to us could Plainly see that who we are ( JACKETS have bright White reflective lettering stating RECOVERY AGENT and INVESTIGATOR ) and we could plainly see that these people did NOT match the description of the vehicle owner who had the alert. and we Now know that they wanted in the vehicle to get the Pistol . Wonder if they would of tried to Shoot it out with us??!! Prolly not but hey in the hood you never know!!!

Kind of nice story, interesting, but isn't there a easier way to make a living? Way to confrontational for me. Sounds like an occupational hazard could be lead poisoning. I'd work smarter, not harder. Find a different field to earn a living. Life's too short!

Well I guess I could say your making an honest living. :crazy_pilot:

Be safe out there.

I would say that the owner of the car moved the car to that location. I'm sure the address was not the resident address of the vehicle, right?

I would say that the owner of the car is dropping off the car for safe keeping. now the gun, if nobody match the description of the car owner and gun owner. I would say that someone took the car for a joy ride.

or both the owers of the car and gun are doing some ilegal stuff. And if that is true, well I would say that they may have used the gun on you guys. but all this is here say and hines sight.

Your safe, next time you need to get more backup when you secure property in the hood.
