I have a dear female friend who would like to carry. Problem is that she has weak hands. Could anyone recommend a small handgun that would be suitable for loading and firing for her.
Easy to rack the slide - Sig P250 in 380 acp or Walther PK380. Recoil should be managable with these as they have decent sized grips. Sig P238 is very easy to rack but grip is smaller.

Try the smith and wesson 637 j frame it is a single double action which when used in single action has very light trigger and will improve her accuracy and she has the double action is there in a panick. Plus the Ladies really like the j frame in there hand. And you get a lot more power with a .38 than a .380
Kel-Tec P32, P3AT, Ruger LCP, & Taurus TCP. These are small, light, relatively low recoiling autos. I would go for the P32 to be honest, it will have almost no recoil. These pitols all have light triggers, however, a downside may be racking the slide from battery... ensure she always has a round chambered to avoid needing to do this in a pinch.
I personally would recommend the S&W .38 J-frame with exposed hammer (lighter trigger pull when you pull the hammer down), or the Sig p238. However, by saying this I have ignored many other handguns that she might light better. I would personally take her to the gun shop and let her handle many of the weapons and ask to rack the slide and dry fire if the shop is accommodating. That way she will know better what feels right for her. Best of all get her to a shop that rents the guns so she can actually try shooting them.
My wife likes the Sig p238. The spring is light enough for her to rack the slide. She can rack my Glock 17, Taurus PT99, and Baur .25ACP. She cannot rack my Colt Gov't. .380 or my RIA 38 super or Sig p220. She dosn't like revolvers. So it looks like I'm buying a Sig p238.

She needs to go to a gun shop/range that rents, and try some differant guns, my recamendation would be a Bersa thunder 380, very easy gun to use, small but not to small, or a small 5 shot revolver, trouble with the revolvers is the light ones may hurt when fired, and the heavyer models are sometimes to heavy to carry, the Beras is a good comprimise, recamending a perticular gun to a certain person is really a crapshoot, because they do not know what they want, and it would be wrong to say this is what you need, thats why I say they need to ck it out for themselfs, and see what feels good to them and they can shoot well, the pretty little 380s are neat but far from what I would advise a newby to carry, it takes a pro or atleast someone well eperianced to shoot them with any accuacy, and a 380 caliber would be the smallest i would advise to carry for psonal protection, shot placement is to critical with the small calibers
I would definitely go with a J-frame revolver with exposed hammer for potential single action use. Every small semi-auto I've had has been a bit too difficult to rack the slide for weak-handed female friends, especially my DB380 I just got rid of.
Take no offense to this but if she has very weak hands racking a slide or cocking a revolver maybe too much maybe a tazer gun might be the ticket? Just pull the trigger a watch the fireworks!
My Mrs is 60, has small hands with arthritis and has had carpal tunnel release surgery on both wrists. She can and does operate a M&P 9c, it's all about using proper technique. This is where investing in some time with an Instructor is a good value.
