Reciprocity between the states or federal mandate

I REALLY GET TIRED OF "MOVING" MY FIREARM WHEN TRAVELING AMONG THE STATES. :shout:

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS FOR "COMPLIANCE"?

I think, one should research the umpteen threads concerning this very same issue and I think that you should stop shouting at everyone in the forum on your first post (all caps).

To answer you question, having the Feds in charge screws things up even further. With the Feds in charge they will have to placate every state. How do you do that? Do you make things more or less restrictive?

Regardless, the Feds controlling the privileges of what are supposed to be rights will be the death of the 2nd Amendment and will end up in confiscation.

Aside from this, welcome to the forums.

I have a feeling that the OP may be one of the people with the mistaken idea that the Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA) [18 USC 926A] requires them to unload their gun and lock it in an exterior compartment of a vehicle or a locked case just to cross state lines. Other than that, I can't really decipher their post. That is the only thing I can think of when they are YELLING about compliance with a Federal mandate (which isn't a Federal mandate at all, it is an entitlement.)

It doesn't?

No, it doesn't. It provides you with an OPTION. You can either obey the state law of each state you travel through/between - or if the laws of a particular state are too restrictive then you can transport your firearms under the conditions of 18 USC 926A - AS AN OPTION - in order to be "protected" from the more restrictive state laws.

I say "protected" because FOPA only provides protection in that a conviction by a state can be overturned in a Federal court if you CHOOSE to comply with FOPA.

FOPA gives you the OPTION of being protected by Federal law, but does not require it.

Thank you very much. I had never thought of it in that way, but what you say is very true. Being from NC, I always obeyed VA law as I traveled through it, but always stored my gun (well, almost always!) when traveling through the Union of Soviet Socialist New Jersey or the People's Republic of Taxachusetts........ Thanks much for making it clear......

do yourself a favor and do not rely on forum posts for your legal advice, you'd be well advised to strictly adhere to FOPA in the libturd infested NE part of the US

I realize I am "on my own" when I travel through Occupied Territory. I do my best to remain in Free America whenever I can. My wife and I travel extensively, but we've done very little travel throughout the NE or the southern Left Coast. We'd love to spend time in Boston reliving the American Revolution or in Kalifornia learning about the 49ers, but can't, since the spirit of the Revolution and the American West has died in those areas.... I figure they don't want our guns...... or our travel dollars.......

There already are non resident carry permits available from many States that are recognized by other States (have reciprocity) available. And carefully choosing which non resident permits to get can result in the ability to carry in quite a few States. Just a quick 'net search brought up this interesting bit of information:

How to Get a Utah Concealed Weapon Carry Permit valid in 31 States

To get a concealed firearm permit from Utah you do not need to be a Utah resident.

Many CCW permit holders posses more than one permit. Check the section of USA Carry the shows which states honor other states carry permits and find the one that gives you the most states in your area or where you travel. I have a DE. and PA. permit and it covers me in most places I will ever travel. I think it's something like 31 states between them both. Some states are harder to get than others. Here in Delaware it took me $235.00 and 8 weeks to get one. I later took that permit and spent $20.00 and 30 minutes and got a PA. permit. Go figure.

I notice the OP never came back to explain what they meant. Just another "drive-by" to enter the giveaway contest.
