Fortunately the microstamping efforts are DOA in the state senate. Cuomo just tossed out the COBUS system as a similar waste of money that hasn't solved any crimes.

After being the attack dog for Clinton on suing gun manufacturers, Couomo should mot be trusted. He may well think microstamping is a good idea :(

Absolutely not trustworthy. Some years back I was co-host of "Closing Arguments" on FOX radio. Andrew Cuomo was stumping for NYS Attorney General. He appeared on the show. Now NYS has horrific property taxes for school funding. The annual number was around $16 billion to fund schools. Cuomo indicated he had found $16 billion in annual Medicaid fraud and vowed to prosecute and stop this grand rip-off. He promsied he could lift the burden of school tax from the homeowner as its killing the NY economy. Once he became attorney generral he rarely prosectuted anyone. Just a handful of cases were investigated. We still have the highest Medicad rip-off in the country, highest debt per capita and the third highest taxes. My annual property tax has grown from roughly $7,800 to well over $9,000 per year since he sleaked into office.

Imagine this... I paid-off my home in 2010 but I still have to pay $783 per month in property tax... and I'm hittin the same pot-hole on my road for the past five years.

What a friggin country we're living in. A campaign promise is a contract with the people. Violate it and you should be removed by a vote of no confidence.

Another huge bug-a-boo of mine ...... property and school taxes in NYS. I bought this house in Catt County back in 1999 at which time total taxes were $3800 per year. They now stand at $7700 per year ! School tax alone is at $3900 !!!

I retired a short time ago and my house was paid off before that. Yet, I have to set aside $660 a month JUST FOR TAXES ! Not to mention another $2100 a year for my 150 acre hunting camp in Allegany County. This is not a good situation for a retired person (considering state income tax to boot). So we've decided to put our house on the market this year and have begun looking at houses in Tennessee. Big difference in property / income taxes.

Simply put, NYS has won, I can't afford this state. I guess I will join the exodus of retired people fleeing NYS.

Here's a letter I wrote to a local .... I want to call them a newspaper but that would infer fair and balanced reporting...hmm, maybe not so much anymore....

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Section

MICROSTAMPING: A FEEL GOOD, DO NOTHING BIT OF LEGISLATION

What’s the controversy about microstamping? It won’t stop criminals in any way, shape or form.
The unique marking, which was mentioned in the June 18th editorial, is not imprinted on the shell casing but on the primer. Maybe the writer of that editorial can please tell us how many components make up a cartridge? I don’t think so…and that, unfortunately, leads us to the real problem….ignorant people making the rules. We need enforcement and education, and definitely not another money wasting program. Did someone say CoBIS?
CoBIS, Combined Ballistic Identification System , has been around for 10 years and $30,000,000 in tax payers money….How many criminals has CoBIS put behind bars? None, as in: zero…zip, zilch. CoBIS, has been nothing but a waste of time and hard to come by resources. Microstamping, if it passes, will be more of the same.
Microstamping will hurt New York’s economy. Legal civilian firearm sales topped 12 Billion taxable dollars last year. Gun manufacturers in NYS may stop manufacturing because of a bad law. People out of work and less revenue for the state…all for something that won’t stop a single crime. Good job Albany, good job.

Cuomo, the attack dog of the Clinton administration against the 2A, recognized that COBIS is a huge waste of money and wants to shut it down. State Sen. Peralta, realizing that microstamping can't pass the legislature, wants to put microstamping in the state budget bill because he is sure the budget will pass.

It remains to be seen just how gullible Cuomo will be.

NYSPRA has launched a publicity campaign on the issue to inform the Governor and the legislature.

Don't concern yourself with it, it not going to happen and I'll tell you why. The gun mfg's will never spend the money to do it, it's proven unreliable, easy circumvented and the biggest thing going against it is the states who want it to happen......don't have enough people who buy guns! Just like in my home state of MA where there is a Approved gun roster companies don't bother submitting guns for approval because there's not enough money to make in that state! Same logic will prevail here.

Well, it keeps getting closer to being a reality. Now they've inserted the microstamping technology in the
state budget bill A-9055C is an underhanded attempt to pass an it into law. The Assembly budget proposal passed today. :

NYS can pass anything they wan't, who are they? The State can't tell gun MFG's what to do, or how to build their guns. Like I said, Unless the federal government makes it law, it's not going to happen. The most NYS can do it tell MFG's they can't sell to NYS dealers, sucks for you guys, but think about it, If you were a gun MFG what states could you loose, and not care......#1 - NY!
