Rapid Fire from the Tac-Con Trigger Group—Media Day at the Range—SHOT Show 2014

One of the biggest hits of the show so far has been the Tac-Con trigger group from Tactical Fire Control. With all of the media and industry insiders blowing through ammo as fast as magazines can be loaded, the range can get a bit loud. Yet above that constant pop-pop-pop would come that signature braaaap of a rifle firing very fast. And it didn’t take long to find it. The booth was full of people trying to get a look at something they couldn’t even see.

On the outside, the guns looked like any typical AR-15s. But inside, the trigger groups had been replaced with sophisticated pieces of engineering that had a very simple purpose. Pull the trigger with the right amount of pressure and hold on tight. Don’t be fooled. It isn’t full auto, and it takes some shooters a few magazines to get the hang of it, but it is fun.

How does it work? When the rifle fires, energy from the bolt carrier transfers through the trigger assembly, which resets the trigger back onto the front sear. The result is a trigger that is ready to rock out incredibly fast split times. Or, if you prefer, a continuous string of very fast split times. And it doesn’t require much modification to the gun to get it working. Simply swap out the trigger and its ready. MSRP on the Tac-Con is $495.

It's basically just a variation of the Slide Fire Stock. It accomplishes the same thing, which is "bump fire," the two different companies just actuating the "bump" from different parts of the rifle. If the rate of fire in the marketing vid in the OP is the best that mechanism can do, the Slide Fire Stock beats it hands-down. Plus, it's at least $150 bucks cheaper. You can find 'em used on Armslist and once in awhile GunBroker for $250. The AK version is about $100 bucks cheaper than the AR version too, so on the used market they're even cheaper. No doubt at all at this point that the Slide Fire Stock works as-advertised:

I'm surprised ATF certified that trigger group. With a SFS you can at least see that the weapon is indeed being bump-fired, but for all intents and purposes, altering the trigger group so that it looks like it's a single pull of the trigger that fires in a simulated full-auto mode is something I would not expect ATF to certify. I'm glad they did, just surprised.

Blues

Well Blues, if my stupid Rep in the House and DiFi in the Senate have their ways they will both be banned. Not only from being made but also from being owned. But as I pointed out to Mr Curbelo, the Bill he put up is unconstitutional and so is DiFi's. Curbelo's is offered as HR 3999. DiFi's can be found at Link Removed Both are ex post facto law bills. Which no State or the Feds are allowed to enact.
