Well went to range with my new .357mag Protector Poly. Big disappointment today after the first 10-15 rounds 5 of .357 and 10 of .38 special my trigger started locking on my gun after every 2nd to 3rd round. Got threw my session but very disappointed. Went home cleaned her up good blew it out might shoot again tomorrow to see problem persist if so going to the Taurus repair shop. After cleaning it I put some shot shells in it it did again then I added some more oil and it stopped. Like I said might try shooting again tomorrow or will box it up and send to taurus. Any advice will be welcome. Here is pic. One on left.

Make sure you do not go past the recommended pressure levels the thing will lock up.

I've read so many bad reviews on Taurus guns; sticking with Smith and Wesson for better or worse. I have 3 and not one issue. I hope your gun just needs to be broken in but it's a revolver....

Bummer you may have got a lemon... I own four Taurus pistols and have nothing but great success with them! Keep shooting it to see if the issue clears up, check your ammo choice is okay with the weapon and of course... last resort is send it to Taurus for repair. Keep us updated!

Will do the .357 ammo was Givin to me from a friend I believe it was old ammo maybe that was it but the .38 was new going to shoot again today. Question if it does not lock up s h old no send it anyway?

I did not to want to shoot again that will not solve the problem nor build my confidence level like I have with my other taurus and glocks. I am just packing it up sending back and I know it will come back actually better than new been threw this one time with Ruger and TAURUS was quick to send pre paid labels customer service so far great .

Good to hear! I personally will never own a Taurus. I have 2 Ruger revolvers and they are built to last. I love 158gr through both (GP100 6" and LCR 357)

That is what a lot of people say but this 1st time I had to send a revolver to Taurus customer service was great took 3 weeks to get back and it shoots great had the LCR and it was missing on the firing pin had to send back so either brand river or Taurus I like I have both and they do well. Looking now to get the SP101 for my collection.

I have a problem ( In my own mind ) with poly revolvers. I just wonder how long they will last? Steel has been my choice because it is tried & true for ever. If you compare a Taurus Poly or a Ruger LCR to a S&W or a Ruger SP101, there is no comparison. Give me a heavy piece of stainless steel anyday.

I think you will like the sp101,every ruger I have had ( 2 vecaro, 1 mark ll 22 and 2 10/22) have run without any problems. The SP 101 is all steel and will be a little heaver than your tarus, but will handle any hot load you put in it and as stated earlier the all steel pistol will last longer.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. I just thought I may have missed something in this thread!
It is a nice pic!!

My preference is for all steel or aluminum frames w/ steel cylinders, too. I wouldn't mind a newer revolver made from scandium but, I don't have that cash to drop. I find that the weight of a steel revolver, specifically a snub, is actually a good thing. The weight helps control recoil and thus allows me to put more rounds on target faster. Even in the "lowly" .38Spl which has very modest recoil, I prefer some weight there to further reduce recoil.

My son's girlfriend just bought her first handgun. Taurus m 85 poly. Very light. Doesn't feel real.
But I admit, it shot very well. Shot a bunch of 38sp fmj, & a couple loads of 38sp+p hollow points.
I was impressed with the accuracy of the little bugger. Recoil was light. My son liked it so much,
he ordered one today.
Not sure if I'd want one in 357 mag, but this one was pretty cool.

Maybe ok in 38, or 9mm, but a poly revolver in 357, that better be some tough plastic, and even if they have it developed to withstand hot loads have many of you ever fired a 357 in a real lightweight revolver, I can say it ****ing stings a lot, and as far as I'm concerned Taurus in general makes good guns, but there cust service sucks

I got back my .357 protector poly back in 3 weeks had to adjust cylinder timing off now shoots great recoil fine and manageable I love it .
