Raise your hand

All you people out there who are not afraid of 1 or 2 rounds of .380 or .32 acp entering your center body mass raise your hands.

Because I get soooo tired of people saying .380 and .32 are not enough to defend yourself. Americans are in luv with bigger more powerful guns. Europeans and other countries however believe that a .380 or .32 CAN protect you well. They believe if a .380 or .32 round enters your body it will do damage.

Now I'm not trying to tell people not to buy bigger calibers, but get real and realize most people can be stopped with a .380 or .32

Comments please? :triniti:

I agree Cluznar! Being shot with ANY firearm is going to hurt like hell and do damage. The wound cavity is NOT just the size of the entrance hole. I carry calibers that range from .22 Mag to .45 ACP so I believe I'll leave my arms down at my side for this poll.

Hell i dont wanna get shot by a rubber band. Lol. But i will say when i go hunting i use bigger calibers to eat the hunt quickly. So i use same theory on a threat. Not Science just an opinion. If i conceal i see where the 380 and 32 have their place.

This has been argued over and over. My comment is you carry what you want and I'll carry what I want. I carry a .45ACP because that's what I want to carry. I'm comfortable with the kinetics and have decades of experience with the round. If a .32 or .380 makes you happy carry it but don't expect to convince many people to give up what they themselves are comfortable carrying.

I don't volunteer to stand there and let someone shoot me with anything including a spitwad, but if I had to choose among being shot with .45, .32 or .380 calibers I would not choose the .45. Proper placement of any of them will kill you assuming nothing impedes the bullet's progress.

You seem to be taking things way too personally. Who cares what others think about ballistics. I sure dont care what you think about ballistics, I dont care about what you carry, and I wont care if you dont like the caliber I carry.

At least we all carry guns.

hogwylde the .380 did not kill the guy but he will always remember being shot. The .380 did stop the threat. As long as the threat is stopped I don't need the guy to be dead, his scars will always remind him.

Gobux I once met a guy who shot himself in the stomach with a .22 and he had problems the rest of his life. A .22 is easy to put 4 or 5 fast shots into someone. The Mafia used .22 for hits. The Zodiac killer used a .22 sometimes. When a .22 round goes in it can hit bone and richochet around inside a person.

Sure one shot with a .45 can stop a person if well placed but shot placement is everything no matter what the caliber.
As long as the threat is stopped who cares if it takes one shot or 4 fast shots? Shoot till the threat is eliminated.
The two stories above show me that small calibers can stop threats. This being said, there is nothing wrong with using a larger caliber. Put the shots in center mass and the bad guy is in trouble.

What a lot of people seem to for get is. Bullet placement and type of bullet have an awful lot to do with it. I have a friend and his step son, who recently had a run in with some low life's in his front yard. Long story shortened, He was shot 3 times with a 45 from point blank range and lived to talk about it. 1 thru the belly and out the back,1 thru the upper thigh and out the butt and 1 lodged in his pelvis and his step son got 1 of his fingers blown off. He was still beating the perps ass after he was shot when his wife came out of the house with a 2x4 and started beating on the the guy before he got away. The only reason he survived imo is because the perp used target ammo. They know that cause that's what type of bullet the doc pulled from his pelvis.

As many have stated we carry what we are comfortable with, I and many others don't care if it is a .22 or a .50. Without a doubt all weapons right down to the .22 are deadly if a shot is placed correctly. Most of us have been fortunate enough to have never had to use their weapon in self defense. I gave a great deal of thought to what I wanted to use for a carry weapon. I own multiple calibers and I know what each does shooting at the targets. What I am certain is that my .22 and .32 will hit where I want so long as the target holds still. In a crisis or threat situation with moving targets and the adrenalin pumping I have my doubts in my abilities to get an accurate shot and stopping the BG if I have to hit a certain spot. I firmly believe in the knock down/stopping power of a 9mm or .40 in a self defense situation. I didn't mention the .45 because I don't own one nor have I fired one, not yet anyways. That's next on my list of wants. If I am ever put into the self defense situation I want to be able to inflict as much damage to stop the threat as I can in as few rounds as possible and this will be done in just a few seconds.

It boils down to this, "any gun is better then no gun".
I carry everything from a LCP to a 1911 depending on different factors.

Carry what you wish, when you wish, don't tell me what Europe carries I dont care and Europe is not going to tell me what to carry. Any bullet can and will kill you anytime. My personal preference is 45 ACP been carrying it a long time. 20 plus years as a paramedic in the Houston plus actually having been shot tells me I don't want to be hit with anything.

I don't want to get shot with any caliber gun. But if I had to be, a smaller caliber is going to give me a longer time to put a JHP .40 S&W, or .45ACP in the perp before bleed out.
