Rainwater Belolngs to the State.

I have been reading where collection of rainwater for personal use has become illegal in many states. At first I thought this was a joke being spread around but, after a little research, I have found it to be true. There is a good article about this at Natural Health News and Scientific Discoveries - NaturalNews.com and verifies another infringement by the government. A couple of months ago, I also read where some western states are also requiring the registration of private vegetable gardens. This seems like Big Brother is over-stepping his bounds and we are getting screwed again, or still. How long will the people of this country stand for the loss of control over our lives? In case some doubt the water requirements, I have attached a copy of a Utah application for collection of rainwater. Rainwater Harvesting Registration - Utah Division of Water Rights

Collecting rainwater now illegal in many states as Big Government claims ownership over our water - NaturalNews.com

I just hope most people aren't fooled into thinking this is about protecting the environment. This is about preventing people from having the ability to be self sufficient. JIC you didn't know it. many cities across the country have also passed laws against having a backyard vegetable garden. (I can't run down any links now. But, it is happening.)

There are also some Lib-states that tax you based on the square footage of your house, driveway, sidewalk etc. for how much you are hurting the environment.

Probably just a matter of time when our "wonderful and caring" elected morons will tax us on how much rain fell on our property! Then they will tax us on how much sunlight and air we have on our property!

So far I have never seen any tax that libs and other elected morons do not like! Of course they always exempt themselves from it some how!

They are already doing that too. I forget where I read the article. But, some municipalities are taxing people more if the have excessive runoff.

Please do not give them ideas.

A year or so ago, I read a short article about a town (I believe) that was taxing rainwater that fell on your property. I, too, thought it was a joke. Now, I wonder.

The city of Grand Rapids, MI, has been considering implementing a new tax ("user fee") to force people to contain rainwater on their properties instead of "letting" it run off into the storm sewer. The tax will be based on an assessment of how much rain runoff each property is assumed to produce.

A millage would exempt non-profit properties, while a user fee could be charged based on a property’s amount of impervious surface and the volume of storm water runoff. Property owners could get discounts in the user-fee system by installing rain gardens, green roofs, porous pavement and other features that reduce storm water runoff. 'Rain tax' to be recommended as a revenue stream for Grand Rapids | MLive.com

So far, they have been unsuccessful in getting this passed.

I will not register my tomatoes but I will throw them at anyone who asks.
.
And BTW, GTF off my property. You have 30 seconds before I forcefully remove you.

So if you live in the country, you'll be taxed for retaining rainwater, and in the city you'll pay for NOT retaining rainwater. That is why we have elections, but only 20% go to the polls while 40% complain! and the remaining 40% just sit on folding chairs in the yard waiting for their next welfare check. Please vote, or prepare to bow down to Queen Hillary.

This has to be the dumbest potential law I have seen being proposed, and that is saying something!

I can see Attorney Generals from neighboring states arguing over who's rain clouds those really are. Does the rain belong to the state where the cloud formed? After all the water for that cloud came from state #1. If it falls in state #2, have they not poached the water of state #1? This has to be the dumbest potential law being proposed, and that is saying something!

We may be doomed :( Stupidity abounds.

City of Houston (Texas...red but almost purple and going blue thanks to amnesty) charges a tax based on how much ground you have covered, preventing water absorption. A flood issue.

There used to be a law here requiring retaining ponds for developers to compensate for land covered with streets, houses, stores, parking lots, etc. Since so much commercial development has gone up rather than out, and so much of the ground being covered is by government for schools, welfare offices, government proxies (low income housing), etc. (see earlier remark about going blue), I've not seen any new retaining ponds. However, I'm surrounded by HISD schools: high school, middle school, and elementary school--must be 20 acres of land covered with buildings and parking lots, yet none of these facilities have retaining ponds. I guess government concrete doesn't cause flooding.

Of course, government doesn't pay the "covered ground tax"--fortunately, since it's the citizens who really pay government expenses.

Have relatives in FL that said a few years back the govt (I forget if it was city, county, or state) was looking to tax homeowners that have water wells on their property. Water wells on their own property! Never heard if it passed or not. I'm guessing and hoping not.

That's my exact sentiments too. You try to keep me from eating, drinking, living, surviving you will go away in severe pain or worse.

There is a couple that in FL that was heavily fined by their municipality or county for growing a garden in their yard and that garden could have fed the neighborhood but they fought in court and eventually won.

Someone comes-a-knockin' at the door for runoff BS on my property, they will be forcefully removed if they "just don't get it".

Charleston will bill/tax/asses you based on squared footage if you own commercial poverty. I believe it's called a waste water management fee. They call it a fee, We call it a oppressive tax. Other counties trying to generate revenue have locked onto this mentally. Another reason people need to attend their County Counsel Meetings,
