quick review of my recent loads (9mm)

I took my Springfield XDM-9 out for the second time today and put 340 rounds through it making a total of 551 rounds in two outings to break it in. The gun functions amazingly!! Super accurate and a dream to shoot! There is one thing I am going to change though when it comes to my loads. I had quite a few ejections get stuck in the slide but I know that's due to the low velocity rounds I loaded.

I like heavy bullets with low velocity for accuracy but it is causing problems when it comes to ejection with the new gun. I have been using 4.0 grains of Hodgdon Titegroup with a velocity of 1080 fps with CCI primers for the jacketed round nose Berry's 115gr rounds. These rounds were super accurate but hard to eject.

I shot some 115gr Win HP's with 5.6 grains of Win Auto Comp and all ejected just fine. I am going to bump my rounds up to 4.3 grains with the Titegroup and see how that does.

Not sure if this will help anyone but I am still learning as well and hope someone can take something from this.

Where are you getting your load data?

I use Titegroup around 4.5 grn for Jacketed.
I checked the Hodgdon website for reference.

Titegroup at 4.0 grns seems very low 115 gr Jacketed bullets.
Whereas 5.6 grns Win AutoComp is at the high range.

Starting 115 GR. SPR GDHP Hodgdon Titegroup 4.5 grns 1135 fps 29,500 CUP
Maximum 115 GR. SPR GDHP Hodgdon Titegroup 4.8 grns 1158 fps 30,500 CUP

I've never used Berry's before but I figure most jacketed handgun bullets are pretty close.

Are you using Lead Cast bullet reloading data?
Seems to be in the ball park for Titegroup if it were for cast bullets.

I use 4.3 Titegroup in 124gr Ranier Bullets. - make sure you are not getting "Glocked" brass. It doesn't happen too much in 9mm. Run your sizing die down as far as it will go on the brass and check a few for sizing. You can take the barrel out of your pistol and use that or buy a tool.
The point being, if you are already getting an over-sized piece of brass, firing it will make it larger and more difficult to eject. Of course it is a relatively new pistol.
You may already know this, but it never hurts to bring it up. Good luck!

thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately, there is no load data for Berry's so I have been looking at a few different references and staying on the lower end (which is what they suggest as well). The rounds have been firing very well out of other pistols and very accurate but I have only had issues with about 10 rounds out of the 340 I shot Sunday in the new XDM.

I've been experimenting a lot with different loads in my 40 cal XD and it seems the lower velocity rounds have been the most accurate so I want to stay on the low end but believe the spring is a little too stout at the moment on the 9.

As for loading data reference, I use the Hodgdon site as well, Speer and Hornady manuals. I have 400 rounds ready for flare, primers and powder which I may load tonight. I might try 4 different loads and see which is the best. I will let you know for sure once I figure out which is the best.

All of the Berry's rounds are jacketed. 115gr round nose and 124gr hollow base flat tips
