Questions about carrying in Nevada and California

My two oldest sons live in CA, you can have ammunition in same box as weapon, as long as bullets or magazines are not in weapon itself, ie: you can have shotgun with ammo attached to stock just not in barrel or magazine. Both boys raised in Texas think this is stupid but comply, a gun not loaded is a club.
