Question regarding gun shows

I went to my first gun show today and it was "ok". I reckon there would be more interesting things to look at if there weren't so many restrictions here in Massachusetts but that's not even my complaint.

What I couldn't get over was how many booths there were that were selling Nazi and Hitler memorabilia. I told my brother, who lives in Florida, about this and he says he sees it all the time at gun shows down there too.

Is this the norm for gun shows? It left such a foul taste in my mouth that I don't know if I would go to another. I thought a gun show was simply that; guns, knives and the sort. Was not expecting to find framed pictures of Hitler, Nazi medals, patches, etc...

Pretty much normal. The people that sell them understand the value of a dollar. Hitler stuff sells well and since it was war related it makes sense that they would sell at gun shows.

I don't collect myself but I'm sure that even people that do don't necessarily agree with what he was. Hell maybe a couple vets even collect the patches to remind them that hes gone and they fought the good fight.

People will collect from anyone famous and face it he was the most famous mass murder of all time. I'm sure Manson, Bundy, Oswald, and any other famous P.O.S's stuff would sell just about anywhere also.

If your not into that just do like I do and move along. Your there for guns right?

Oh, without a doubt. It's not like I saw the stuff and hastily left. I continued to walk around until I got my fill but I guess I found it to be distasteful.

As do I, just keep in mind that they are collecting for money just like art. Don't let your distaste stop you from attending, The best deals are found in gun shows and you would do yourself a disservice by not going because of it IMO. Guess it doesn't really matter though if you cant buy anything good in your State.

I have not come across much Nazi memorabilia, if any at all, at the gun shows from Eugene to Portland, OR. Haven't made it to any in my new hometown in WA yet.

Most of the people buying are simply collectors. Let's face it, thinking about that happening in America and people call you a crazy conspirator so for something that outrageous to happen not so long ago will always keep people intrigued

I didn't know you were in Oregon. I'm in medford, maybe we should meet in roseberg and duke it out

I live in Massachusetts but have uncles near you in Ashland and Eugene. I have fond memories of spending summers in Eugene as a 14 y/o kid. Don't know if it was the tubing down the Willamette River or the nude beach we came across but it was nice! If you see either of my uncles, tell them David said hi!

Moved to Washington last June, but I wouldn't take you up on that offer anyways because I don't like to be seen around such hateful people. Again though, keep up the good image of a gun owner, we all love to be viewed as violent, insulting, and hateful. *sarcasm*

I was referring to Chen. He's what you'd call a coat tail

coat‧tails [plural] 1 if you achieve something on someone's coattails, you achieve it because of the other person's power or success

so...am I physically the coat tail that people ride on? In that case thank you for appreciating my success. If you feel I'm successful from someone else, who would that be?

Not all places are like this, at least here in Oregon. I've been to gun shows in Eugene, Medford, Portland, Roseburg, Pendleton, and some other places in Oregon. I have not seen any Nazi memorabilia except firearms - even then I don't remember any Nazi emblems on them.

The CollectWest gun shows explicitly states, "All anti-Semitic, subversive, racist and hate literature are prohibited, as is any items not in the best interest of the shows, as in the show manager’s opinion."

With that being said, there is policy and there is policy.

I've seen a lot of the stuff and had friends that collected them, but they collected anything to do with WWII. Most of the stuff is. Collected by war historians that liked hitler about as much as Anne Frank. I don't care for the materials myself.

Collecting historical artifacts does NOT make one a NAZI or any other hate group member.

If you sanitize history, it is no longer history but simply revisionist propaganda.

Own three lugers my dad brought home from war also a Nazi SS dager, same dad went ashore at Normandy and helped defeat Hitler with his two brothers, all came home alive. Pistols are worth a small fortune they are in the family thanks to an American, my dad. The lugers and dager will be passed down to my boys. If it makes you sick to see these items in a gun show, don't go. While you are at it don't drive a car to the gun shows as they killed over 50,000 folks last year. Sorry but I get a little tired of political correctness.

PC equals a lie on the lips of truth. Peace, love, Colt 45. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I set up at Gunshows and the Nazi Memoriblia that is seen is just about collecting. There are no skinheads selling it or even setting up at the shows and I am pretty sure, money or not, the other dealers I know have so much disdain for that type of individual they wouldn't even sell that to them.

There is really an unwritten code in the shows I do that when undesireables want something off your table that they could get in trouble with, the price goes so high they wouldn't even consider it.

The Nazi stuff is about the regime. It's about the military. You should be offended by the thought of what happened in that time, but please just take another look at these facts and don't hate the collector. They collect to keep the history alive which is what seems to be disappearing by the minute.

I guess I am not paying attention to that kinda of stuff in NW Fla. I don't recall seeing any. I have been 3 or 4 times when the show comes to town and I have always been more interested in guns and holsters so it might be there but I didn't notice.

Some shows are strictly Guns shows and some are Guns and Militaria and Collectibles. Some shows may not have that type of stuff.

Most of the shows we have here do both, some don't.
