Question on Utah ccw

I have heard that Utah will no longer reissue a chl after the one you have expires if you live in another state. I live in Texas and a couple of years ago a few buddies and I from work got the Utah chl.
Can someone please give me the straight scoop on this? I have also true to Texas tradition went and got my Texas chl so I dont have to wait when i buy a firearm.

I hope you are wrong. These c.w.p. permits are expensive. Renewals= not so bad.
I have an out of state Utah carry permit too.

You can contact them here Link Removed

On the right side of the page click on Apply/Renew

"Non-resident proof of permit. If you reside in a state that recognizes the validity of the Utah CFP or has reciprocity with Utah, you must obtain a CFP or CCW from your home state and submit a copy of it with your application for a Utah permit".

They will re-issue the permit if you have a Texas CHL. The change that Utah made is if your state recognizes the Utah permit, like Texas does, then you must have one from your home state to get the Utah permit. If your home state does not recognize Utah, then you can get a Utah permit without a home state permit.

Ok that clears it up somewhat. I ask because the guys I work with have never gotten there Texas permit so they will have a tough time to get a renewal. I on the other hand went the extra step and got a Texas Chl so I should be good to go. Thanks for that info. Now I need to check out what states Utah permits are good for that are not covered under Texas permits to see if when the time comes to renew. So it appears Utah is not granting any new permits unless you have one from your home state.

As stated..IF your home state honors the UT permit.

TX was actually the catalyst for this change in UT law. So many TX residents were getting UT rather than TX permits that TX complained about it. Rather than TX fixing their own problem UT stepped up and made the change.
