Hi- about to submit my application for a CCW permit but have a question on the address info. I lived out of the county each year part time- as a snowbird, for a few years but maintained a US address, driver's lic, voting, etc. If I put the foreign address down and they can't verify it (no mail, 3rd world central american country) what will happen? Since I kept all my US info current and never claimed a foreign residency should I even mention it? Want to be complete in my application.

Would appreciate knowing of any other similar experiences- thanks!

First we need to know what state you want to get your permit in so we know who's laws apply. Most states require you to be a full time resident before issuing a resident permit. so find out what constitutes a resident in your state.

You know, it depends on the state where you have your address in this country. If you had put your location for demographic purposes, maybe someone here can respond to your question properly.

I too have a foriegn address, I keep it, I maintained it but I live here in the US most of the time. Both countries, US and my foreign address, knows when I am out of the country and when I am here. They keep track of me. I know this because one time I missed a main election in my foreign address a month after I went home and I decided to call up the electoral office up there just in case so i do not go to jail (so I thought...because voting is mandatory in my other country of residence), the lady took my name, then looked me up on the computer and told me when I came back and when I was last in the country and for how long.

I told you the above not because I want to be a smart ass. I just want to let you know that perhaps in this country you can't hide the fact that you have another foreign address or can. I do not know. I had not found out from this side of the fence, but I did on my foreign address side of the fence. Funny...they cannot find any illegal aliens here from Mars but they can find me if they want to...

I did state the area here- CO, I don't have a foreign address now, did in the past but not one that one can verify since it wasn't a permanent thing and not an organized country like it sounds you are dealing with. No voting, no registering, etc. My point is that if they are trying to verify the address there, they can't- not that I want to hide it. I'm happy to disclose it but don't know what they are looking for, verification of time spent outside the country? Criminal behavior?

If you've lived in Colorado for a year you are a residient, you can also open carry outside of Denver. I wouldn't waste my time listing the foriegn address.
