Question for out of state permit application.

I'm a 20 year permit holder in the state of Ct. and have family that lives in Florida. I travel there several times a year to visit them, and get in a little diving while I'm there. In the application process, I see where they require a proof of training to issue. Does anyone know if my current state permit will suffice as this training record? Thanks.

I took a quick look at what the training requirements are for CT. My guess is that you are covered on the classroom training part but FL requires some type of proof of competency in shooting that your previous trainer may be able to provide you. Not all states require you to fire a gun to get a permit, Florida does. I am sure that's why FL doesn't honor your current permit. Hope this helps.

Thanks much for the reply. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that. I'll have to go pay some instructor at the range to watch me shoot, so he can sign off. I fired off the question to the proper authorities in Fl. And hope to hear back from them with a definitive answer.
