Question preferably for Henrico police officer. If I have a cocealed handgun permit and I sign up to do a ride along, am i able to carry my weapon on me?

Most likely answer will be a big fat NO. My wife did some ride alongs in Youngstown Ohio (I know, different state but similar concepts) and they asked her before hand if she carried. Stated it was a civil liability and that they couldn't risk a lawsuit if she fired back and got hurt or hurt a bystander.

I'm not Henrico PD, but I don't need to be to answer that. NO. That cruiser is County Police proerty, no different than inside a police station. CHP doesn't fly there.

Well, partly correct. I can tell you for a fact that Henrico PD will not let you carry on a ride along. I was a LEO with another agency and wasn't even allowed to carry when I did a ride along with a buddy.

However, your CHP is valid inside the police station, as is open carry. The only place you'd be restricted is in a holding cell area (secure location). If you are walking to get something like an accident report, carrying is fine.
