Question for all

I would say I am more laid back and +1 on the less drinking. I pretty much only drink at home or the great occasion at dinner but I give my weapon to my wife who is also my driver. 1 drink=no drive no carry for me. I have always considered my self to have a higher then normal situitional awarness but have found that to be even more so increased. I have also noticed I miss my weapon dearly when I dont or cant have it (ie deployed). I have not changed the way I dress mostly because I have always wore clothes that were a little loose fitting (NOT BAGGY). The biggest change I have noticed is my confidence in almost all situations even if its when I am not carrying and I do ALOT of the what if scenerios in my head and with the wife (she also has her carry permit) but the one thing I do with the what ifs is make sure my answer to the if this happens is with in the law.

Hey MI .45: You always get a surprise when you read this forum. Thank you MI .45 for the word "insouciant". Looked at it and hadn't a clue--now it is a new word in my writings that is very pointed in its meaning. For those who are reading this and missed the word---it is an adjective meaning "free from concern; without anxiety; carefree".

I liked JJ Flash's 1st comment about being the sheep dog, That's pretty much it.
I too live in South Carolina, Moved here years ago (Yes! i'm a damn yankee. Well, use to be) This is the first major city that I have lived in. You watch the 6:00 news and shake your head. The worst thing that you had to worry about in Wyoming Co. NY
was getting snowed in for a week. Here it's different. Freinds ask me why I carry. My response is, At 52 years old, I'm too old to fight off a 20 year old crack head.
It's reasuring that the wife has a S&W compact on her side of the bed, and I have what ever I pulled out of my pocket on my side at night. We sleep better at night.

Hey Injuneer: Could not agree with you more on your post and those of JJFlash. At 68 yrs old, I'm the oldest guy but I think the 3 of us would make fine CCW Musketeers. In addition to local situations I find our national state, as it lurches toward a socialist/marxist all -powerful central government a firightening situation and I get comfort, albeit not as much as I would hope, at having weapons in the house should things get more chaotic and frightening. No one is coming into MY house to tell me anything because a bunch of spineless congressmen decided on something that they do not have to also live by.

Hey JJ: You got me thinking. Maybe I can come up with a cane that incorporates my little Kel Tec P3AT 380 into its handle, where that part of the handle is under my shirt (gotta stay CC) as I shuffle along to my bingo game. Some of those handles are kind of big and bulbus--perfect for concealment. Wadday'all think?

I'm in. Seriously. If you can design and develop this concept, I'll buy one. I'm actually trained to use a fighting staff. If you could actually conceal a pistol in it, twould be cool, all right. Probably sell like hotcakes, too. Matter of fact, I'll invest in the idea, if you're serious about it. Sure there's not something like this on the market?

Sounds a lot like a 'bang stick' which they used to use in the less PC days of dealing with sharks. It was a stick that was a few feet long with a pointy end. If the shark got too close you pushed that into their gills and the action cause a shotgun shell to detonate, BANG.

I am trained with the bo staff and sai. The training carries well to most stick type things (think broom, rake, etc) and for the said think a long flashlight. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a way to conceal a weapon in a way that made it worthwhile in terms of balance and usability in any type of staff or cane (derringer?).

I think that a concealed weapon in a holster would be more palatable if you had to use it for self defense than something hidden in a stick.

Carry a stick and if that fails to keep them at bay draw your concealed, or otherwise, handgun to take care of business instead.

I was always aware of my seroundings and the people I come in contact with. Since carying, I do not worry about people I see that look suspect, I just watch and avoid them. When I was was younger, I felt I could handle most anything. Now AI hope I do not have to handle a bad situation but I am prepaired if I have no choice. I travel a lot by air. I have not brought my pistol along yet but I am thinking about it.

I am taking my first airline trip with Mr. XD next month. I have decided that if it's legal to carry where I'm going, I'm taking my sidearm. Kinda feel nekked without it.

Hey G50AE: First off, kindly do not take my comments in an abusive manner but I recently replied to comments you made about SC LEOs and I found it sad that you have such distinct hostility and/or suspicion about LEOs. Now I read this thread and I have my mouth open as I read the extent to which you have gone to accomodate all your firearms in your car, on your person, etc etc. I am not saying that any of this is not being due diligent and responsible; what I am saying is my impression from all of your words on these threads is that your mindset seems to be very angry and aggressive to everyone and anyone to the point where you should try a little chillin. If the situation where you live in SC is so bad that it requires actions that meet your comments, I truly feel badly for you. But my impression is that you need to take a step back and take a deep breath and reevaluate things. I apologize in advance if these comments cause you some anger and yes (in answer to your first probable comment about this post) I do not know you or your life and it is none of my business, but I truly feel for you---your anger is all over the place.

I'm definitely wear my clothes a little looser and let alot more things go that used to make me mad before . Some of it could be cause i'm getting a little older & things hurt like they never used too though

Hey Y'all: My answer to the question is short and sweet---NOT AT ALL outside of probably practicing a bit more so that I am at least proficient in firearm use. In 68 years, mostly in the NY/NJ area, I have never had any situation that remotely came close to even thinking about needing a firearm. Situational awareness, in my way of thinking, goes much farther than anything that I could possibly think of being CC. Yes there is "what if" so I at least CC while in the car driving--about the only thing (road rage) that tends to bother me. My only other real scenario that bothers me is the "no CC in restaurants (w/alcohol)"edict in SC. I always feel vulnerable at 10 PM walking back to my car with my wife after a fine meal but I am not allowed to CC in such a restaurant if they serve. Yes I could be CC and no one would know but if god forbid I did have a "problem" the circumstances surrounding my CC would leave me criminally and probably more importantly civilly vulnerable. Outside of these cases, I rarely CC; actually took the class for the information it provided me on laws, gun safety etc and just because I could and just because it was a natural extension of my firearm ownership.

Anyone else from SC notice there are a lot of us who are pretty active on this site? Injuneer, KelCarry, GD50AE, Islander...
We do have our differences, but each of us are staunch 2nd Amendment supporters and appear to strive to stay safe and legal.

I've got your backs if you ever need it. I'm well trained and well armed. That's 4 Musketeers right there if the situation ever calls for it. Then again, we also have all the other members of this forum.

Hey G50AE: Sorry if you misunderstood my post. Referring more to your comments on wardrobe and car alterations and thoughts on dealing with LEOs and your negative feelings about SC LEOs. Truly feel badly that you believe your situation to be so negative when it comes to any aspect of law enforcement that requires you to not only criticize SC LEOs but to ignore any benefit they could provide based on the degree to which you find it necessary to fully implement your defensive strategy with altered clothes, car, etc. Many on this forum also follow your due diligence but your comments seem to have a more negative nature to them. Wishing you well and hoping all of your planning is never needed.

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum/site - hailing from Covington, La.
I currently have my CWP and have been offered a 'new' job in San Francisco, CA. I did check the 'web' for reciprocity and it doesn't specifically state my permit will be honored in CA. It does state however, that 'they' i.e. the State of CA ,
"may issue a permit to residents".

I have intentions of becoming a resident, so I may be answering my own questions here, but wanted to know if any of you all had experienced this .... Do you all think that I'd have to go thru the course again? ...I would think a California 'fee' is all they're looking for....
Any thoughts?
thanks ,Dave.

I lived in California for 55 years, owned four businesses and transferred money personally on a daily basis, the majority of the time under adverse conditions. I have never been arrested, never had DUI, no traffic tickets. I could go on and on with every reasonable, logical, practical need to acquire a CCW, let alone meet every requirement that was required. NO CCW. I understand, however, that if you own a pawn shop, gun store, are a politician, or the brother in- law of the local police chief or sheriff, it is possible. A normal law abiding citizen resident, forget about it, ain't gonna happen.
