Question about declaring

So one day this week I witnessed a traffic accident. I stopped to offer assistance and stayed to make my statement, dump truck & car so ....

Anyway my question is I was running an errand for my job where I am not allowed to carry so my gun is normally in my truck. I was not carrying this day, but if it had been in my truck do I need to declare? My truck was roughly 150 ft from the accident, and I was standing at the accident scene.

At TREO notes... What does your state say? Know your rules.
Personally, I am not going to tell unless asked or unless I am part of the accident. Since you are a witness and not carrying, I don't that it is important even if it is in the truck. (Not on your person.)
I don't live in Ohio though.
Good Luck

Not sure about your state, but in South Carolina, if the gun is in your glove compartment, you do not need to declare. If you are carrying and are asked for ID by the police, you must state you are armed. Kudos for stopping to help!

Like others said, it depends on your local laws. Barring that, there is no need to offer that information in this instance. It has zero bearing on the incident or the responding officer's safety.

Ohio, unfortunately, is a must inform state. But with you outside of the vehicle and it not on you. The law seems to say you don't need to tell. That one would be a good one to pose to an Ohio lawyer who is gun friendly.

From what I hear, here in Indiana you only have to tell the police officer when he ask if you have any weapons. Not sure if that's true or about Ohio though.

Glovebox still requires informing if you are in the vehicle. Ohio dropped the way carried in a vehicle law in Sept 2011.
