Private Porperty carry

I know there has been some discussion on the forum about open carry in NY. but if I am on my own property and happen to walk outside of my house with a weapon on not concealed, am I violating the law?

NYS technically requires a handgun to be CONCEALED, but there are a number of varying opinions within that thread which should give you a more clear answer to your question.
