Question for anyone who may know: I am a county deputy auxiliary in Michigan and I have a Michigan Exempt CPL. Can I carry in Illinois?

I would call the IL state police and ask. In IL anyone with a permit from their home state can carry a gun in their vehicle loaded and concealed.

I'm not sure what the status is on auxiliary police. If you are covered under LEOSA then yes, otherwise no.

Often, the police are not well versed in the law, an answer from them could get you in trouble. Contact the state attorney general's office.

In IL the state attorney general is a corrupt anti gun politician whose daddy has been speaker of the state house since Richard Nixon was in office. She lives to his bidding. You will only get "don't ever carry a gun" or "we can't comment " out of her. She helped the state fight till the bitter end to keep concealed carry out, not because it was her job, but because she is just like her daddy.

The ISP is very hesitant to give any interpretation but they will help with the black and white stuff.
