Preparing for needing Legal Defense

I live in North Augusta. What do people in SC do, if anything, to establish a relationship with a lawyer in the event you were involved in a self-defense scenario?

There aren't any attorneys that I can see locally that specialize in this area.

I've looked at the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Fund, but I'm not really sure how that would work if there aren't any local attorneys.

What do others do? I'm not fortunate enough to have any personal contact with any attorneys. Do you just go by word of mouth to find a criminal defense attorney? And then what? Call them up and say, "Hey, if I ever need you, can I call?"

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for that link. It looks promising. Does anyone have any firsthand experience in dealing with them?

Not sure about self-defense scenarios, but an NRA membership is good to have for constitutional issues.

The back of your membership card will have these numbers...

I know that the NRA-ILA will provide material support. That's about all I know.
