Possibly traveling to Illinois.

Hello all, I'm brand new to this forum, so I apologize if this topic has been covered. I work in the construction industry, and I travel around the country in my work. I am a Florida resident and possess a CC permit from Florida. I may be going to Illinois for a job, and I know my permit is no good there. My question is about buying ammo there. I go to ranges on my days off while I'm working away from home. I went on the NRA-ILA site and read that in Illinois you must have a "FAID" to buy handgun ammo. Does that apply to non-residents also? If so, how can I buy ammo to go to the range? Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Only IL residents with FOID cards can buy ammo here. The range i go to allows you to bring a guest but you have to share a lane and buy their ammo.

You had better stock up before you go. And every time you get to come home, you had better stock up again. Maybe get a couple of lockable steel toolboxes to store your guns and ammo in. How long will the construction job keep you there? It must be as bad as being sent to Cuba to be forced to travel to the Communist state of Illinois.

i have to ask. do all the good people in illinois feel anti-gun? why do they keep electing politicians that keep the state defensless?

I'm not sure how long the job will last. I'm guessing 3 to 4 months. I may not even get that job, there are others in other states, but if I do go there, I will definately stock up. I will try to avoid Illinois in the future. I don't see how that state can deny it's citizens their rights. Of course, if that's the people they elect, I guess they want it that way. I'm lucky to live in such a great place like Florida. Although I haven't been there in a while. Thanks for the help.
