Possible move to California

Hi My wife would like to move to Cali. ( I am not much in favor of it). But what I need to know is if the guns I own now. Most have mags that hold over 10 round. Would they be legal to bring with me? That is about 90% of the guns I own that carry over 10 rounds. Some live my lever could not be modified as I know It holds 12 44mag. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Well if it's a long gun they're not going to know about it, but to be perfectly legal you couldnt bring any gun that can't be modified to be compliant into the state. If you have any ARs you need too install a bullet button, cheap, reversible solution. Check out Cal Guns Foundation, they have flow charts on guns that you can follow to make sure they are legal. You will have to get new magazines that only hold 10 rounds. You can bring your high cap mags with you but you will have to disassemble them to be legal. Here is the rifle flow chart http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf
And here is the handgun http://www.calguns.net/caawid/hgflowchart.pdf
My suggestion as a current resident of the state is don't move here if you like your guns, the weather is nice but the laws are terrible

Why would you ever want to move to california ???. The best thing I ever did was move out of that state. Everything there is over priced over taxed and over rated.
The best advise I can give you is don`t do it.

Oh, my God!!! Run for your life. I lived (if one can call it living) in California (Los Gatos) for almost four years. I was on the verge of puking almost every day. You will be as well.

The comments above are right on target, and I won't echo them here. Satisfy to say I strongly recommend divorce...no kidding. Anyone who voluntarily moves to California is either terribly misinformed, insane, or an illegal alien (that's Californian for Mexican).

Tell the wife it's grounds for divorce. LOL I've been in that expensive, plastico, etc. craphole, and would call it a day with whoever suggests moving or vacationing there. You give up too many rights. Good luck! in not moving there.

Thanks everyone! Yes I am trying to get that state out of her mind, luckily she like her job here, but we are both getting tired of the rain as we get older. I will keep looking thanks again.

Go central or go Sou'West... for good weather...but make sure you choose a place where it is not tornado alley or the floody plains.

I lived in the Bay area for close to thirty years and all it got was worse and worse. Yep - lot of stuff to do there, weather is great, but, it is real restictive and more people and cars than you know what to do with. Gun laws are terrible, the state government has been broke for years and keeps raising taxes on everything. I moved to Oregon and it is the best thing I have done in a long time. Never plan on living in California again. I see that you are in NW Oregon. The only reason I can see someone wanting to move from there ot Ca. is the job market as it is really bad in Oregon right now. Really think about the decision as there are lots of other places to live.

I'm a native Angelino (Not by choice) and I lived in Southern Commie errr California for 37 years.
I don't recommend that you move there.
However, If you do decide to move to Southern Commiefornia because you are 'tired of the rain' where you are now, may I give you some experienced advice?

My wife and I moved out of Southern Commiefornia for many reasons.
We got tired of;

Cholo's and other types of violent GangBangers, Almost Constant Graffitti, Stolen Mail, Stolen Cars, Vandalized Property, Earthquakes, Frequent Armed Robberys at our local supermarket, Drug dealing on our streets, Drive by shooting on our streets, Public Schools which teach Gay History to Elementary school kids, ETC...

The LAPD (Latino Americano Polizia Departmento) is one of the most corrupted police departments in the entire nation.
Good luck on the police even responding within 30-60 minutes, And that's if you really need them to.

Other than everything that I have mentioned above, Southern Commiefornia does have great weather & topography!

So enjoy your move to Commiefornia, I'll just wager that you'll soon be wishing that you stayed in Oregon where all the rain was. :)

Move to Florida we have great weather and none of those crappy laws, well we might have a few crappy laws. And we have no restrictions on magazine capacity.

Oh - I forgot to mention the annual license fees for your truck. All trucks in California are registered commercial. In 2010 my 2009 F-350 cost $795 for one year. That's 10 years worth here in Oregon.

Just move to North Eastern Oregon...
I currently live in Kalifornia, and believe me, you don't wanna move here!
I'm moving to South Central oregon in three years. (Klamath Falls)
Can't wait!!!

Come to Pennsylvania. Friendly people that cling to guns and religion, relaxed gun laws--easy to get CCW permit, weather is decent, not many floods (at least western Pa), very very few twisters, no 'quakes and no hurricanes but occasionally remnants of one, winters aren't all that bad anymore either and summers aren't too hot, great hunting and fishing, excellent history, huge lakes (read fresh water) to the north, no tax on clothes or food unless prepared such as fast food, roads aren't the best though unless you live near Harrisburg, plenty of things to see and do.
