Police Sharpshooters

Reviews will take years to complete? Such Bull$__t. No one will convince me that the cops didn't intended to kill this man on sight.

All of those cops need to be fired on the spot, and there commanders demoted at the very least. There was no reason at all to turn a neighbor hood into a war zone. I hope the residents sue the crap out of the police department for property damage and extreme negligence.

Since the primary purpose of police officers (tax collectors) is now to generate revenue for the city we need to limit them to just one or two bullets to get themselves out of harms way should a traffic stop go bad. They have proven time and time again they can't be trusted with any more than that. Maybe if they actually spent more time going after criminals instead of sitting at the bottom of a hill, behind a speed limit sign where the speed limit drops 10mph, at the end of the month to fill their quota then they would be more comfortable in the presence of an actual criminal. You get those guys away from the soccer moms they constantly pull over and they wet themselves.

This appears to have been nothing but murder. One man died for being in the car with a criminal. Even if the driver was an evil scumbag (likely) once the car was out of commission there should have been no shots fired unless the cops were fired upon or if the occupants of the car indicated they were not willing to surrender peacefully. It sounds like every cop there wanted to "bust a cap" into someone. Now in New York where they have the "Glock 12 lb trigger" I can understand spraying bullets everywhere (if you are a hostage in New York your best chances are if the cops don't respond).

In this situation it would have best been handled by a designated sniper taking out a threat IF it developed. The wholesale open warfare method was simply murder by slaughter. Sad to see so many wanted their chance to "put one into" a man. Now they can go home and brag they were one of the ones to put the animal down, oh, let's not talk about the murdered passenger or the two cops nicked.

Sorry, gun control for cops is no more of a solution than it is for citizens. Each one of those 26 (I think that's what I heard) gets prosecuted for the highest level crime that would be charged against a non-badge-wearing citizen, and these shootings go away.

Every citizen, and even legal aliens as far as I'm concerned, should always have the right, and unfettered access to the means, to defend themselves. The problem is the special treatment cops get, not the tools they carry on their belts or with a sling.

The new threat to American citizens---the police. Maybe Hitlery, Feinstein, Reid, Schumer, Bloomy and crew should rein in these morons and their firearms. They tend to be just as or more dangerous than common criminals.

What happened to "driver, slowly exit the vehicle and walk backwards toward me with your hands laced behind your head. Now get down on your knees" etc. This was more like a gangland retaliation hit. So now they are judge, jury and executioner. What is next? Traffic stop executions? Sir do you know you exceeded the speed limit by 10 miles per hour......bang bang bang.

I don't know the answers to the following questions. I am not versed in local civics and policy where I live, and should be. The questions would be relevant to any city with a police force.

Who do the police answer to? To the mayor or city council? Are there state statutes that regulate how police departments are run?

Your and my elected officials allow this.

A legal team and public pressure where the public dictates the rules and procedures to a PD is one of few ways to effect change, adding on to blues' suggestion of highest prosecution. Qualified immunity goes away and the police department becomes a transparent and trusted element of daily life.

I won't say "We need to change......, or What we need to do is......." I want to lead the change.

Part of the problem is with the fact that three different agencies were involved. Then you have the fact that Miami-Dade Police Dept is not a Sheriffs Department that answers to the general public. It has an appointed Director. Only way to get rid of him is to change the county manager. Miami and Hialeah basically control that while the rest of the county gets shut out. He is also very anti-NFA weapons and guns in general for the public but wants everything up to and including drones for the department.
