Wash officer's daughter shot in leg with his gun - Boston.com
I am tired of police officers being exempt from laws. They should fall under the EXACT same laws that apply to non-LEO citizens, especially in regards to firearms possession and carrying. They are no more worthy to provide for the protection of themselves and their families than any other person. Why should they be able to defend themselves in a school building and I can't? Why should they be able to defend themselves in a bar and I can't? Why should they be able to have a loaded gun in a vehicle without any license required and I have to have a CPL? Why should they be able to conceal their guns without a CPL and I can't?
And then... it all comes out in instances like these:
So what do you think will happen to this officer? I predict ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Why? Well let's look at the track record:
Under investigation. Tell me another lie.
This shooting happened four days AFTER the Marysville police officer's child was killed with his gun. But the non-LEOs have already been charged with manslaughter and have had court appearances! Really? Two EXACT same situations, except one was a LEO, the other not.
And...
Again, felony assault charges filed against the non-LEOs.
Everything is backwards to me. Police officer's let off the hook with an "internal investigation" when they contribute to children getting shot and killed with THEIR guns, when they are the one's that are so "highly trainied". They should be held to a HIGHER standard because aren't they "trained" so this stuff doesn't happen.
I am going to say it (albeit with the utmost sarcarsm intended): These police officers give gun owners everywhere a bad image.
So, instead of holding people responsible for the violations of the laws that they have already committed, the anti-gun crowd is going to scream to make more gun laws that affect ME, that LEOs will continue to be exempt from. And the badge polishing boot lickers are going to say, "They have suffered enough, there is no need to punish them more."

The 10-year-old daughter of a veteran Spokane police officer was in stable condition after shooting herself in the leg on Easter with her father's duty weapon, authorities said.
So what do you think will happen to this officer? I predict ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Why? Well let's look at the track record:
This is the fourth reported child shooting in seven weeks in Washington state and the second involving a law enforcement officer's child.
On March 10, the 7-year-old daughter of a Marysville police officer was killed when her brother found a gun in the family car. A Snohomish County sheriff's probe into that shooting, involving Officer Derek Carlile's daughter Jenna, is "still an open investigation," sheriff's Lt. Brent Speyer said Tuesday.
Under investigation. Tell me another lie.
In the other recent shootings, prosecutors have said the mother of 3-year-old Julio Segura-McIntosh left him unrestrained March 14 in a car in Tacoma after she placed a pistol under the driver's seat. The boy fatally shot himself in the head when the woman went to get food.
The mother, Jahnisha McIntosh, 23, and her boyfriend, Eric Vita, 22, have both pleaded not guilty to second-degree manslaughter charges.

And...
On Feb. 22, an 8-year-old girl was critically wounded by a gun that went off in a classmate's backpack in a Bremerton school.
The girl, Amina Kocer-Bowman, was released April 3 from a Seattle hospital. The 9-year-old boy who brought the gun to school has written her an apology letter as part of the sentence he received when he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from the shooting.
The Kitsap County prosecutor has charged that boy's mother and her boyfriend with felony assault, saying they negligently allowed the boy access to the gun. They have pleaded not guilty.
Again, felony assault charges filed against the non-LEOs.
