Pocket revolver for heavy coat carry

I've been thinking I would like to get a .38/.357 revolver, hammerless, or shrouded. I was thinking I liked the LCR's that Ruger came out with but I got my hands on a .22 (all that they had) and the trigger seemed excessively heavy. Do any of you have the LCR .38/.357 and how is the trigger? If not the LCR what recommendations can you make?

I have an S&W M&P 340 which is a J-frame, internal hammer, .357, that I carry as my BUG. It a fantastic gun but, as you would expect from a .357 that weighs less than a pound, it kicks like a mule. I put an extended Hogue monogrip on mine which makes it much more pleasant to shoot .357s out of. .38s aren't bad at all. The trigger is also fairly heavy but I've lightened mine slightly. I've fired the LCR in .38 before and the trigger actually felt a bit lighter than my S&W. You have to remember that it's a hammer-fired DAO revolver, not a Glock. Your trigger finger has to create all the force required to cock the hammer and set off the primer, where as a striker-fired semi "DAO" uses the recoiling slide to do this. Both are great guns, you can't go wrong with either.

I had the LCR in .38 special. Recoil manageable thanks to the factory Hogue grip. Very lightweight, concealed nicely for a revolver, even when IWB. The trigger is actually pretty nice. A little long, but breaks clean. Only problem I had with it was the fact that I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it. Sold it to a friend, he shoots it just fine. As for the LCR in .22, my wife has one and is her first gun ever owned and first time ever shooting any gun. She shoots it great! I have yet to shoot it. I don't know what part of Idaho you are from or visit, but check out Impact Guns in Boise, they may have an LCR on their rental tables.

For a heavy coat carry I would carry my S&W 640 .357/.38 stainless.

I sometimes carry a Ruger SP101 in .357 magnum. It's stainless steel and weighs 25 oz. which helps tame some of the recoil. I practice with .38 specials in it.

Any hammerless revolver requires the trigger pull to cock the gun as well as release the hammer to fire (DA). I have a J-frame .38 snubby. It's a whole lot easier to fire, when I manually release the hammer myself. They do make trigger kits to lessen the trigger pull. You may want to look into this.
