Just read this. Unfortunately looks like the employee will be fired for having a firearm. But this is how the head lines are supposed to read. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-in-grocerystoreshoot,0,7896860.story

Ouch, you know that has got to hurt. Shot him in the face huh? I guess we dont have to worry about that loser trying to rob any more Kroger stores huh. As for the employee, he is a hero. He can always get another job. It is not like he had a high profile position within the company AND both employees get to live another day to tell the story. Employers will never support employees who are armed no matter what. Their insurance companies are probably to blame for this.

I totally agree!!

Yeah, some tiny little story, probably just 'in other news' addition. This is the kind of story that should get headlines. Maybe the BG's will think twice.

No next time for this BG! Kroger should give this guy an all expense paid scholarship, or a month vacation to his choice of relaxation.

Good job.

If Wyatt Earp had missed and shot a customer, think he'd be a hero? There is a reason employers don't want their employees playing head of security. Want to be a security guard? Put it on the application.

Police say an Indianapolis grocery store employee shot and killed a man who was trying to rob the store while it was busy with customers.

Yo! Dip Stick! No customers around! He did the right thing. Why be armed if you're not going to use it when the time comes?

Police say the shooting happened Monday evening at a Kroger store on the city's northwest side after the robber entered the store and placed a hard object in the back of a female worker. Police say he forced the woman to the store's office area where another employee shot him in the face.

Here you have the proverbial armed citizen, at work, when the reason to carry a firearm in the first place, comes walking in the door. He acts to save his coworker from an uncertain fate and, as a byproduct, his employers assets, just like the vast majority of us here say we would.

The guy's a hero and you want to defame him? If you constantly worry about "shoulda, woulda, coulda" all the time your gun will never clear the holster when the time to act comes. Evidently this guy cared enough about the lives of his coworkers and the customers to put a stop to it before it really got ugly.

no he wouldn't. What does that have to do with this story? Isn't that like asking, what if he got in his car after he was fired and ran over a dozen nuns and a couple babies? Would he be a hero then? No one but the BG got shot, he saved a coworker, he's a hero.
