Please look at this squirrel...

Does that look "normal" to you?

A couple buddies say yes, two say no and my wife is iffy about it too.

Slight yellowish discoloration is also present on the enlarged organ as well.

Is this the stomach and is this normal?

Essentially, would you eat it?

It appears to be almost like some sort of undigested food/fecal matter.

Yellow and light brown, almost "sand-like" in consistency. Pretty much like sand and water mixed 1:1. There's a few areas of blackish colored material, same consistency but resembles dark poppy seeds and is pretty scattered throughout the insides. Everything pretty much held its form once it was opened up.

The organ itself was rather tough to cut and hesitated to be opened with a razor. It was absolutely loaded with the yellow stuff.

I'm guessing this is the stomach because what I'd imagine is the liver was tucked away neatly behind it (it looked fine). All this was directly beneath the diaphragm and was found after removing the "guts" and cracking the rib cage open a bit.

I've never seen anything like it before and it makes me hesitant on cooking up the rest of the squirrel. I'm hungry but I may have to pass on this one.

I'll take a picture sometime tomorrow after sun up to show what it looks like opened up.

This has me curious.
