People you consider real Heros

The real heroes are the unknown people that make this country work despite the efforts of our leaders that continue to divide us. The unknown people that make a difference yet go about their business every day not caring to be recognized. Rush Limbaugh talks about these people often. These are people you all know in your neighborhoods yet don't always notice they are there. Not to take anything away from our military. Many of these soldiers go about their business as does the civilian population not expecting recognition as heroes. Just doing the job they were trained to do.

Respectfully disagree. The people you are describing are hard working Americans. You down grade the title of Hero when you call people that are doing what they are suppose to do as Americans, Hero. JMHO

Real heroes are the ones that put their lives on the line and don't get paid for it. The guys and gals that are at an auto accident and reach through the flames to pull a child out of a burning car. The ones that have the balls to prevent a crime from happening, the guy that jumped into the Potomac River on an icy afternoon to help a severely injured woman after the Air Florida airline crash, "the ones that don't get paid for it"...the ones that don't seek the recognition after their selfless service. There are many of them around. If you want to be worshiped for doing your job, even when you go a bit beyond the job description, you have the wrong job. The poor guy that makes sure I have fresh coffee in the morning after having worked the most dangerous shift...deadmans shift for those that don't know...gets my respect and admiration. He toils tirelessly for minimum wage, smiles at me, and is often murdered for what few dollars are in his cash register. The cabby trying to make a few bucks and is murdered in his work vehicle for a few bucks that might be in his pocket. Nah...these guys aint fightin' no war but they sure do sacrifice their lives for pennies...don't they. If you want my admiration do something totally dangerous to make my day a little bit easier!

I haven't down graded the title of hero. I apparently have a wider definition of hero than you do. Even decorated military heroes are doing what they are suppose to do. Some go beyond that depending on their circumstances at the time. Just because someone doesn't risk their life, doesn't make them any less a hero. JMHO

My definition of a true hero is someone that puts their life on the line to help someone, even if they do not know the person.

Used to be anyone that went above and beyond the call of duty. Nowadays the Libs have bastardized it to cover everybody. "It's not fair that one person is called a hero and not the other"
The insanity continues.

Good analysis of what is happening today.

As long as they agree with their agenda...

My father will always be my real hero. He was a former naval officer, a class-act, great father and the best role model one could have. I still try to live my life based on what he would do.

I would say my Father.
21 year veteran now passed.

Landed at Omaha Beach fought in the Battle of the Bulge where his squad was killed except for him. After his days in the Infantry he joined the MP's and stayed MP until he retired.

He mostly spoke of the good times but some of the battles like DDay and the Battle of the Bulge and Aachen among others.

I did find out years later from 2 books Saving the Breakout and Victory at Mortain that he was involved during that battle. Cut off running low on food ammo his regiment fought with bayonets, entrenching tools and in some cases radio batteries. He was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star but never talked about them.

The only medals he spoke about was the European Ribbon with 5 Battle Stars and his CIB. His take were they were the only ones that mattered to him.

He never spoke of this and I understand. When i first came back from combat he looked different and there was a knowing between us.

He has been gone since 1995 but he is not forgotten.

There are thousands of others like him from that time. Its because of them I had the chance to serve myself.

I give a Salute to him and all like him. You are not forgotten by your children.
