People in Ohio: Question->

Any Concealed Handgun Licensees in Ohio here who have purchased a handgun and bypassed the background check by showing that license?

Yes I could google it, or call an armory, etc., but am curious about personal experiences.

I'd heard last year that CHL holders would only have to present the license and not deal with the (stupid) paperwork again.

Thx for any input!

Ok thank you.

That's pretty silly tho don't ya think? The checks for a CHL may have changed I suppose but still, if someone is licensed tot carry they're legally permitted to own by default I'd think. Ohhh well :)

I'll check with the county sheriff's office since they issue the CHL's & oughtta know.

Retailers are NOT required to follow this "law" and can still make you fill out a 4473 if they want you to... I know that Rural King wont take a qualifying permit and still require you to go the 4473 route if you wish to buy a firearm from them in Ohio. I also know of a few FFL's who DO accept a qualifying permit... All depends on company policy..

Ok. IF I were a retailer, I think it would speed up my customer service if I avoided the 4473. I mean if it's their prerogative then ok, but it seems silly that a retailer would opt for the 4473 when they aren't required. Maybe it is a C.Y.A. thing for some though.

I bought a revolver at Cabela's once, made an error writing the date & got a phone call the same day from an ATF compliance person to come in and correct it. Had to line out the wrong stuff, date & initial it, then write the correct date. What a pain! If this "law" would've been in effect and used, it would've saved time for everyone.

I've heard it depends on the store or company policy. ... wich is bs. I'm in ohio and get delayed always.... and noone seems to go by the Brady law around here so I end up waiting 2-3 weeks for my handguns. ..wich is a crock I'm no felon nor am I a criminal

YOU are being delayed by the ATF, NOT the stores you buy from.... get a clue.

You enjoy breaking the rules of this forum? calling someone a retard is not a good way to stick around.... If everyone else has trouble understanding what you meant when they read your words, WHO is at fault? the reader or the writer?
