NEW YORK (TheBlaze/AP) — A Senior New York priest says that he “deeply regrets” if he hurt anyones feeling because of his comments that "Priests accused of child sex abuse are often seduced by their accusers and that a first-time offender should not go to jail".

Being a pedophile and taking advantage of children is a crime. What makes it a bigger crime is for the perp to be someone in a trusted position. Priest's are human and just as subject to the same temptations that affect all humans. When you accept a position of public trust you are in a different league. Doesn't matter if you are a priest, nun, minister, firefighter, teacher, doctor, nurse.... the list goes on. Once you accept a position that entails public trust, there is no excuse to justify the violation of that public trust.
