Paypal

Is this policy anti-second amendment, or because of regulations dealing with interstate firearms transactions? I use them for payments for trainings I conduct. Anyone have any additional information? If it is anti-gun I need to find a new payment service.

Do any of you remember the uproar when it was determined that Lee Harvey Oswald bought his rifle through mail order?
Many reporters and politicians were appalled. So they did what the all do and we ended up with more laws and regulations dealing with interstate firearms transactions. Can you imagine the Headlines and self serving BS that would be around if any of the mass shooters was found using Ebay or Ppal.
I don't think it is about the 2A , it is just business doing business. There was a similar type set up that was gun friendly, but I think they went under.
Now Dicks Sporting Goods is another story. My kids got me a gift Certificate from Christmas. I told them that I would use it but it will be the last time I buy anything at Dicks so please no more gift cards.

I use them for my Gun related business and they work fine. I also use Google Wallet which is cheaper to use, and they have a similar policy towards firearms.

The Constitution limits the Government. It has no power over private individuals or business. You as a private individual can Censor anything you want.
Well alt least you used to be able to.

PayPal Purchases

Speaking strictly as a longtime PP user.... I only do online purchases by using a PP credit card... I have never allowed them, or anyone else access to my bank account directly. When I've often bought online, I just use the CC to make the buy, and then pay their bill with electronic check transfers from my bank account to them.

I once did have a problem with a seller, when I bought a radiator for a small import car, and it didn't fit properly, returned it via UPS, and they didn't refund to my card. After a few weeks of waiting, and no response, I filed an action with the PP card, and they immediately reimbursed my card with what I'd paid, and went after the seller themselves.

Knowing their 'no firearms etc' policy, Ive never used them to try to purchase one online or otherwise... All my gun purchases have always been f-t-f between myself and the owner/seller. But I have bought some parts from ebay that were gun related, using the PP credit card, and never had a problem.

If I were ever to do a gun purchase online, I have other cards that I can use.

Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category.

A receiver/ frame with serial # IS a firearm! A silencer/ suppressor is a firearm! How you do mod a firearm to fire automatically? What is high capacity? Maine has not such stupidity I have 100 rd beta mags are they high cap or can I get bigger ones? "camouflaging firearm containers" so no cardboard boxes??

This is why I have been anti pp form the start.

Uh then why does PayPal ask for the nature of your business when you fill out the form to sign up for a business account...and one of the subcategories under "Sports and outdoors" is "Firearms" and another is "Firearm accessories." I was just screwing around, I'm not gonna click "create" and watch my PayPal account get frozen but why would they have these "prohibited" categories if they plan on not letting people use them? I'd hope that they don't allow someone to create a merchant account if they select one of the above (and other) prohibited categories as their TOS expressly states "no guns" and "no ammo" and blah blah. All I wanna do is sell a few damn parts on GB, I'm not selling a Barrett M107A1. And since those putzes buying on GB don't like seeing "Check or Money Order Only," it's more economical for me to just sign up for a PAI account.

I had my palpal account since 2000 and my ebay account since before then. I recently found out about their gun views and closed them both down.
I did fine in life without either of them before and Ive been doing fine without them since.
No one really needs either if they take such great offense to our practicing our Constitutional rights.

Some places I buy from carry ammo and also sell car parts. My records show I buy a lot of car parts.

I just found out from a fellow ham and CCW person I am completing a transaction with that Paypal is not 2nd Amendment friendly. He told me that if you complete a transaction for a gun through them that they will CANCEL your account and SUSPEND any funds you have there.

Will be looking for a new money launderer.

What is PayPal’s policy on transactions that involve firearms?

We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.

For example, using PayPal, you can’t buy or sell:

Any firearm, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they’re for sport and recreation, collectibles, or curio or relic firearms.

Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category.

Ammunition, including propellants like gunpowder or blank ammunition; ammunition or cartridge cases; and primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm.

Stun gun sales are allowed for U.S. residents, but only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. (PayPal account holders outside the U.S. can’t buy or sell stun guns.) Before they complete a sale, U.S. sellers must make sure that the transaction is legal in both locations.

Related items that you can buy and sell using PayPal include paintball guns, blank guns, and air-soft guns, as long as such transactions are legal in the applicable jurisdiction. All of these items must display the markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and can’t include blank ammunition.

This is not new news. I'm quite positive there are at least 10 other posts on this subject on this site.
That being the case. I have purchased, ammunition, firearms, and mags on GunBroker and paid for them with paypal.
Just have the seller send you a direct invoice and don't say what it is for. You can even add the auction number just don't say what it is.

Hello fellow hams! KG5JJ here. I think I'll close my PP account because of these issues presented. They may run their business as they please, and I may pay for my purchases as I please. Win, win, for me. Plenty of worldwide internet businesses that take other payment, so I won't worry about it a bit.

The more I think about it...who cares?
Paypal is losing a TON of money by pulling this crap...their loss, not ours. My money is good when I buy a gun online whether the idiots at paypal get a cut or not.
Paypal certainly cant be dumb enough to think they are stopping the sale of even ONE gun by having such and idiotic policy.

This is directly from PayPal's acceptable use policy:

Prohibited Activities

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:

relate to transactions involving... (i) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories, or (j) ,certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law. Link Removed

ElectronicTransfer, Inc, bills itself as the Second Amendment friendly alternative to Paypal, Link Removed.

Well, many of these big firms ban the use of their products during our legal use of items discussed in the US Constitution. So the answer is easy, I take my money ELSEWHERE - after letting them know why I am closing my account....not that they really give a darn about small numbers of folks.
