Pastor's daughter shot at Fla. church

Idiocy on so many levels. Failing to know how the pistol works, failing to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction, failure to treat every gun as if it's loaded....

Why would two morons be looking at guns at church in the first place? I thought the church building was a place to go worship, not act like Rambo. It amazes me that the subject of guns would ever come up at church. That being said, I do carry at church but absolutely no one knows it except my wife. That happens to be the only place that I do not carry with one in the chamber, cause I'm going to totally eleminate the chance of a negligent discharge. On the way home, I again jack one in the chamber, but it ain't gonna go off at church.

There is no such thing as an AD in my opinion. This was an ND (negligent discharge), he should lose his CCW, face criminal prosecution, and cover all of the girl's medical expenses.

I carry condition one at church but never remove it from the holster. My pastor knows I carry but he is one of my shooting buddies.

It is idiots like this that cause the general public to panic and give the antis ammunition against the 2A.

All it takes is one incompetent idiot to make the rest of us look bad. You know the AG's will play this one up for a long time

That doesn't seem rational to me. It seems you are saying that you are willing to risk "a chance of a negligent discharge" everywhere but in your church, and you are willing to risk a delayed ability to defend yourself in your church but no where else.

why the distinction?

That's because they can't distinguish between a gun and an idiot with a gun.

Too bad we don't know how many people were in the church with firearms that didn't go off to counter the AG's conclusion that it was the gun rather than the idiot who was responsible for this tragedy.

I read this on the net. The guy took the magazine out but he didn't know there was a round in the chamber. A lapses in safety is what it is. Got to make sure the weapon is TOTALLY clear. Now a poor girl is near death because of careless behavior. SAD!!!

In Michigan Churches are "No Carry Zones ". Must not be that way in Florida.

Just tragic. Broke the first rule of gun safety, treat all guns as if they were loaded. Why are they pulling the trigger? Another example, Police Officer shoot self in class room, why are they pulling the trigger? As I posted in a previous thread, "this was not a gun related accident, it was an idiot related accident. Why are there so many idiots, oh ya, there is noting that eats idiots.

Probably one of those "wham bam, thank you ma'am" conceal carry courses at a gun show. Common sense is not common anymore.

This makes me sick. I pray this man's careless and stupid decision isn't the cause of a tragic and untimely death. If the family doesn't press charges the state should, if possible. He should be held accountable and responsible for his actions.

That is so sad. To believe it happened in the House of The Lord. The not knowing if it was loaded or not. I even double check the weapon at a gun shop. It was just been checked in front of me.
