Para Hawg 7

Went into my favorite toy store today and found a Para Hawg 7. Nice looking sidearm, and felt good too. Was wanting to now if anyone has had experience with these. Just looking for any feedback. Thanks

I have experienced the Big Hawg.

It was an expensive, single shot pistol. Even after a trip to the local gunsmith, a trip to the factory for Para's lousy customer service(several months of lousy)it still performed poorly.

It took almost $500 of custom 1911 smithing to make it reasonably reliable.

Para has an almost obsessive "Omerta" about talking of their products shortcomings.

Sorry, I can't recommend their products.

Para owner opinion...

Well, I can't disagree more with the previous response. I own 2 Paras; a .45 Covert Carry (which I use as my daily carry pistol) and a .45 Big Hawg. I love them both. The triggers are excellent - especially on the Big Hawg - like breaking glass. I keep them clean and take good care of them and I've never had a round jam or stove pipe - even when doing rapid drills.

I've found Para support to be excellent as well. I had a screw come out of the stocks and get lost at the range a couple of years ago. I called up Para, talked to a support person there and described the problem. They sent me several new screws in case I ever lost another one - no charge, not even postage. So I suppose it depends on what you're expecting. If you want a Kimber or custom pistol with all match grade components then buy one of them, but you'll pay at least twice what a Para will run you. I've found Para to be of excellent quality and a solid performer at a good price. Just my $0.02.

The problem with Paras from the factory is that they have hit or miss QC.

The custom 1911 smith basically determined that "Tolerance Stack Up" caused most of the problems I was having. Para had no clue as to how to fix the pistol, since the individual parts were within spec. When assembled, the gun does not run.

The bottom line is you either get a real good one or a real bad one.

Last year or so, a new manager took over. If he is successful, these problems may get put behind them.

Maybe with the spotty quality control I would be better off getting a springer champion, or something along those line

Para Ordiance

Zcrabtree,

I have the Para C6 Slim Hawg 1911 3in barrel, Stainless Steel finish Wood Grips, 3 dot sights & 6 round capacity. It is an excellent Weapon.

I've never had a problem with Para Ordiance. I highly reccomend Para ordiance they are a little pricey I think I paid around 850.00

The only problem I had is when I purchased some after Market Mags, until I purchased wilson combat Mags since then nothing I have never had a mis-fire,.or any jamming.

Para makes very realible, great functioning & Dependable Firearms. No matter what model # you purchase.

My model # is PSHX645S

Thanks guys for all the feedback. It's nice to hear other experiences and your pro's and con's. I think I'll be heading back to the shop tomorrow to see what kind of deal we can work out on the para.
