PA to WV

I am LTCF in PA and am going to WV in a few weeks. I know there is reciprocity - but so I'm clear - does that mean WV honors my PA permit or do I have to get a WV non-res permit (honored by my PA permit)?

It means that WV recognizes your PA LTCF as if it was one of their own.

Just don't accidentally wander into Maryland. They honor no permits but their own, and tend not to issue those either!

There may be some differences between the states as to where you can carry, etc. Like Walt said, check the details.

Thanks guys - I had looked at the maps, and will check the carry laws of WV. I just needed clarification of the reciprocity.

I realize this thread is old, but I have a similar question.

I plan to travel 81 from NC to PA and of course will be passing through MD.

I will be in a pickup pulling a 4 horse trailer, so no trunk.

Can I get by with an electronic keypad gun safe, in the cab?

Whether the gun is loaded or not, I forget the combination and can't open it.

Unless a drug dog smells drugs in the safe, what is in it is no one's business.

Or another thought. Truck is an F350 crew cab with a nice storage area behind the back seat...so if the gun safe is behind the back seat, locked...is that legal?

Will that work in MD?

Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

I know it's frustrating to have to do a gun lock-up for all of 11 miles (10 minutes!) though Maryland, but being careful is being legal!
