We just got a full breed German Shepherd today. I have always wanted a German Shepherd. She is eleven weeks old,I feel bad for the crack head who picks our house.

Keep a check on it with the vet. They are prone to hip dysplasia but he should be able take care of that. Had mine for over ten years. I was sitting on my garage floor with his head in my lap when he died. That hurt nearly as much as losing a family member. Too old now to get another one but sure do miss having him around.

GSD are a great breed, lots of history serving our Country. I have always kinda wanted one, from the Rin Tin Tin days, but back in 1969 I got my first Doberman, and I have been in love with them ever since. I have 2 of them now, male and female. Good luck with the puppy, and remember you get from a dog what you put into it. It will not take long to find out they require some extra work and patience.

Love Tin Tin. Puppies are more work then.older dogs. She is going to be put family dog first and our protector should it ever be needed. I have always wanted this breed of dog,so the extra work is well worth to me.

So Sorry to hear about your loss. I remember when we had to put our 16 year old pugs down. He was so old, blind and could not walk or eat or control his bladder. The only comfort I found was that he was in a better place.

We have a GS once. She is the most beautiful and good tempered dog we've had...very patient and loving. We lost her when she was 16 years (?) about 5 years ago now. We got her from a GS Rescue and was told that she was the dog of Janet Jackson's then boyfriend who was into drugs so we named her JJ.

Congratulations on your new baby...do you know they molt? LOL Even short haired dogs do, but GS the more noticeably so! Since it is still a baby, have you had it's blood checked?

Lesson learned from one of our rottweiler we got from the humane society, we just accepted the dog as we were given, papers said he has a clean bill of health, used the society's vet for it to check him...found out too late that these facilities are not really reliable. My rottie died of canine renal failure, an ailment that could have been detected by a simple blood test. It had hurt a lot and hubby cried about 10 times a day so I decided to move on and found another rottie. Found one in Texas. As soon as we reached the airport, we contacted our newly recommended vet and ordered a full medical plus a blood test. Our baby is now over 3 years of age.

Sorry to hear about that.
I remember when my 'Buddy' had to be put down (Cancer).
I cried & cried at the vets office.
Like you said, it's like losing a member of the family.

Dog Show ever by one person

This is an old one but it includes GS...nice to see it again for kicks...

The neatest part is, they were all rescue dogs from the pound.
