Opinions on the Taurus Millennium PT111 G2 12-Round 9mm

I am recently disabled and currently wheelchair-bound and can't afford to spend more than $400 for a personal protection / concealed carry handgun.

I've been looking at the Taurus Millennium PT111 G2 in 9mm with the 12-round magazine. This updated version seems to be getting decent reviews, but I can always use more information.

Any of you good folks out there have any experience with this particular gun, good or bad? Thanks!

I have a Taurus PT111, 1st Gen since 2003, and don't have any complaint. No FTF or FTE. The main difference is that mine holds only 10+1 rounds, and the trigger travel is longer and harder than Gen 2. It's a nice little pistol.

Love this weapon. Wouldn't recommend anything else, while your in this price range. The gun feels amazing in your hand, conceals easily, is dependable, I have put 2000 plus rounds through mine and have yet to have an issue.

Look at the Bersa BP9cc polymer 9mm carry gun. :meeting:

The Bersa BP9cc has an 8+1 capacity and a magazine disconnect safety.

The Taurus PT111 G2 has a 12+1 capacity, a thumb safety but no magazine safety.

This round goes to the Taurus PT111 G2. :victory:

There's not a larger version of this gun is there? I plan to buy one some time soon and was looking on gunbroker and some say "sub compact" and some don't. But Taurus is only showing one size for the PT-111. Just wanted to be sure before I ordered.

This gun is in the subcompact category, roughly the same size as a Glock 26, but narrower. If you are looking for larger, look at the 24/7 G2 in both full-sized and compact versions.

Nah I'd rather stick with smaller. I was just making sure I didn't accidentally get the bigger version if there was one.

Just got my PT-111 today. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but handling and all, it seems good. Only problem I have with it is I think I may have to take some sandpaper to the texturing on the right side of the grip to see if it will smooth out. Cause I like to wear those Nike DriFit shirts and they pick really easy and I've already had my shirt snag on the texturing once already. I'll probably just do it on the side facing my shirt though cause I do like the feel of the rough grip.

Not sure if you've made your decision yet or already gotten anything, but I finally had a chance to shoot my PT111 G2 for the first time today and man, for $350 bucks you couldn't ask for a better shooting gun. Hell, in my opinion you couldn't ask for a better shooting gun for $5-600! Feels awesome in the hand, manages recoil very well, sights are accurate. I put 300 rounds through it today with no hiccups at all. I even did 1 full magazine limp wristed to try and make it jam and it never did. Did a couple magazines firing as fast as I could and also no problems and still had a great grouping. I've got an old faithful holster on the way for it, so if it shows its dependability for another 2-300 more rounds it'll probably become my new EDC along with the Walther PPS. I just can't say enough about how awesome this gun is.

Good to know Andey.Gonna have to check one out and see for my self.I'm always willing to compare CCW.Gives me an excuse to handle guns:dance3:

On thing I did forget to mention on my last post but I think I kinda touched on before...if you like to wear the nike or underarmor "dri-fit" type shirts like I do, be willing to do some sanding on the grips. I have already taken some sand paper to them once and it still grabs a little bit, so I'll probably do some more. That is the only down side to this gun that I have found, but it is something to consider because it does pick your shirts and it will rub the bare skin on your sides raw. If I sand it more and it's still picking, what I will probably do is figure out what color duracoat job I wanna do on it and do that, because I duracoated my walther pps frame and it smoothed the texture of it big time. But we'll see.

If Jeff likes it, it's a good choice...

Taurus PT-111 Millennium G2 Compact 9x19mm Semi-Automatic Pistol

I think this is the first thread I have seen that is positive about a Taurus. I was looking at the Taurus 24/7 G2 .45 compact for a while, and even though most of the review I read were positive, I could have thrown a BBQ with all the flames I have seen on forums. I finally decided to go with the XD-S .45, which I also really like and fits well, mostly for reasons of availability and because I get a killer discount through my employer.

This thread, however, is refreshing.

I own five Taurus handguns that have been nothing short of exceptional in performance. I recommend the brand all the time to people who are unwilling or unable to pay the price for something else. Or, simply just don't want a Ruger, Smith, Springfield, etc...

I own three autos and two revolvers of theirs. In .380acp, .38Spl, 9mm and .45acp and the quality of each is absolutely acceptable for a daily-use weapon. Although, my experience may differ from another... so, take from this what you'd like.

I, like gunnerbob, own several Taurus guns. I've got a full sized 24/7 .40S&W, a 1911, a 738 (the Taurus version of the LCP), and now this 9mm. I haven't shot enough rounds through the 9mm yet to speak 100% for it, but all 4 have not had a hiccup yet, and all but the Millennium have had at least 1,000 round put through them. I actually prefer my 1911 over the Kimbers I've shot of others. I can find any difference in quality between the 24/7 (and Millennium) to a Glock.

GUN CARRYING AMERICAN PATRIOT!!!!

Taurus didn't get its reputation for poor QC just from jealousy. Even the president of the company acknowledged QC problems and that they were trying to do better. For a life depends on it gun, I don't want to rely on sample luck. Get a used Glock 17 or 19, or a new Glock with $400 cash and the balance on a credit card. Buy once, cry once.

As I said, I've owned multiple Taurus guns, all of which have had at least 1,000 rounds through them without one single hiccup. A group of us took our brand new Glock 22's out the other day and within the first 3 mags, I had 1 failure to eject and one stove pipe. The guy next to me had 1 or 2 jams as well, but I'm not sure exactly what the issue was. They're Glocks, not God.

Police, law enforcement in general, military: Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Beretta. The Glock 19 is the single most popular concealed handgun as well as the most popular all-purpose handgun. I sold my G19 two years ago, and I have had seller's regret ever since. I keep hoping Glock will release a .45ACP model in their midsize (G19-23-32-38) line, and that will be my new carry pistol. Otherwise, I may have to break down and get a G19. Or maybe a G32, if I could find a reliable source of reasonably priced .357Sig ammo.

Why do you think a Taurus sells for only 60% of the price of its comparable quality name brands?
