Opinions/Experience with Urban Carry IWB?

Considering the Urban Carry G2 for concealed carry. Of course the ads & video make it look ideal but curious about perspectives, especially from any that have one.

Any advertisement is designed to make a product look good, otherwise it wouldn't be advertisement.

For what occasion do you want to use this particular holster for? I personally find the Urban Carry holster pretty stupid. It's a good way to lose your gun in a gunfight by slingshotting it out of your pants. You can't draw your gun while sitting without contorting your body. This makes it impossible to draw your gun while sitting in the car. A one-handed draw from this holster is a clusterf*ck waiting to happen.

What ever gear you end up using, train and practice with it at home (dry practice) and at the range (live fire). You will very quickly realize what gear works and what doesn't. Practice until you can't get it wrong. Realize that you may need to move while drawing your gun or you may have to protect yourself against an incoming blow. Realize that one arm/hand may not be available to you as the bad guy got a hold of it or you are protecting yourself or someone else.

Thank you for the perspective!

I bought one for my very first real holster. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about it. It worked well for my Taurus PT709 Slim as far as concealment and easy retrieval / draw if I was standing up. But contrary to the ads, the thing was near impossible to retrieve / draw while I was sitting down. Also, being a little healthier myself, when my belt slipped down my waist a little bit, occasionally it made the draw difficult and almost impossible. The truth is, you're not going to know until you try it out yourself. Maybe it was my Pillsbury Center that caused the occasional hang up. But it was enough for me to consider that Murphy's Law would have it that it hang up at the most inopportune moment. And it only took half a second to adjust and retrieve it if the hang up occurred, but that's a lot of time to add to a draw when you need it most.

I agree w the others and just wanted to add it always amazes me that most aim for holsters that are not well situated while sitting. Either it being uncomfortable or simply unable to be drawn is less than ideal. I'll admit it, I probably (definitely) spend more time sitting on my arse throughout the day then standing. A big reason of why I prefer shoulder holsters. My suggestion to others is dont get a holster that limits when you can actually use it.

I have one of the earlier Urban Carry Holsters. It was provided to me by Urban Carry to demonstrate. I like the way the Urban Carry two attaches to the belt better than the original.

It does a very good job on concealing a pistol, provided you dress properly for the holster. It takes very little to master the draw technique, but it is a two handed draw. Additionally, if you wear a cell phone on your belt, then this holster design won't work for you, for who wears two cell phones on the belt?

For me, it's a design that is not for me. But I don't like appendix carry either. What works for me, might not work for you, and vice-a-versa. As TLoK said, a shoulder holster works best for him. For me, I prefer a strong side, iwb (about 4 o'clock) or second choice an ankle holster or pocket holster. Different people, will always have different opinions.

I'm not sure where you are at, but if you are anywhere near me, you are welcomed to try the Urban Carry that I have. PM me for more info.

Definitely watch the videos. I should get mine next week. I can give a personal review then

Ha! Fantastic feedback, thank you.

As I don't exactly have a Brad Pitt build either, I could see the same issues occurring for me.

I've worn the first gen for over a year now, for ultimate concealment you can't beat it. I've passed getting wanded places by just pulling my keys out of my pocket... (bad security, obviously and not for any reason than to just see if I could get past the kid) Gen 2 looks like much needed improvements, but I'm so practiced with it I've adapted at this point to all the drawbacks except seated, which is just what it is. I "could" get to it in my car with the right motivation, but it wouldn't be while driving for sure. For me the concealed needs outweigh the quick draw. I crawl around equipment, under people's desks, climb things, and lay down with no fears of anyone ever knowing. Anytime I'm not at work I carry differently, or I'd say "additionally" because my Urban Carry is on me unless I'm sleeping or in a non carry allowed environment. I would not be able to carry any other way during the work day comfortably anyway and I'm fine with that. I have that additional separate gun for my car, which I then carry IWB at 3 with an alien gear that is very comfortable but not nearly as guaranteed invisible.

The Like button did exist in the past and was disabled due to an apparent security issue with the forum software. At least, that's what we have been told.

I don't want a holster if I can't draw from it concealed one handed setting or standing so that leaves the urban mess holster out . I would be considered fat at 5-9 and 230lbs but I can and do carry iwb at 3:00 a p320c or smaller and can conceal it under a tshirt that does not look like a tent , not tight not to big !! Button down shirts are a breeze . A Foxx Holster that a couple of our family use with smaller handguns allows cant in ether direction with some vertical adjustment and since your works 709 is basically the same size as a cw9 kahr I have carried it would work fine in one of those holsters . Carried in front of your hip bone canted to the rear makes it easy to draw even when sitting and you could probably tuck a shirt in if needed . Foxx Holsters has both single hook kydex and hybrids that work well in that location . I far prefer a hyvbrid design and have used one for 14 years now but from Comp-tac . I have 29 years CC so far . Bottom line is you still have to find what works for YOU .
