Open Carry

Is it still MPs or has that been replaced by "security forces"?

DoD police are "civilian" officers, for want of a better term. In other words, they're not part of the military forces. M.P.s are police forces within the military. Their powers are limited typically to the bases, except when martial law is declared. CID agents are serving military personnel. They are not DoD Police.

Each branch has their own special investigators that typically are military personnel that don't typically wear a uniform...they are in civilian clothes so they do not display rank (keeps an even playing field). Then you have the MP/SP/SF types who perform law enforcement and resource protection duties and they are in uniform and OC as part of their duties.

That is a basic description of who does what...yes, over 25 years of Military service in one of these career fields...multiple combat tours...I have carried both OC and Concealed as part of my duties.

BTW...NOBODY who is not on OFFICIAL DUTY is allowed to CARRY either way on a federal military installation unless that installation has specific facilities for the purpose (range, etc. that is open to the base population) of shooting or hunting...and loaded firearms are only allowed in those designated areas. OC through the local BX/PX and let me know how that turns out for you...be willing to bet you would be classified as FORMER military afterwards.

"...if I was a smart criminal,...". Is an oxymoron, like military intelligence.

Hahaha.

Yeah provide facts to back up your immature statements before you run your mouth. Your making your fellow soldiers and vets like my dad look bad.

I open carry a bit because I drive a lot. When in on the road for hours I don't care how comfortable my Crossbreed is, it's not for road trips.

I just always up my situational awareness and if I go to a gas station or a store I always try to be more polite and humorous to the staff or others. No issues. Some dumb kid about 7 years old told me the army would protect me and I didn't need a gun... Never did find out where the army personal were to protect me and my wife.... LOL

It's all about situational awareness. If your head is on a swivel and not looking down and txting your not going to be a victim.

It's really important not to be a jerk either. I went out to eat with friend and noticed a guy rocking out is Sigma, lol. Anyways after I left I guess he got into a verbal match with the manager over the food. If I'd had been there, not sure what I would have done. I was concealing along with my brother in law.
They were blocking out escape. Probably just sit it out but would have been ready to help the manager. People like that make it harder for us to open carry.

I presume everyone has noticed, the OP made ONE POST back in October, and hasn't been back. Such a horrible troll.

Not doubting you, but out of curiosity how would you accurately described the military investigation branch?

Depends on the branch of service you're writing about. In the US Army several years ago it was called CID (Criminal Investigation Division). I think in the Navy, it is called the NCIS???... Have no thoughts about the Air Force or Coast Guard...
