Open Carry of Rifles and Shotguns

All,

Need some help, what are the laws for non-concealable weapons (those greater than 12")?

I think the question of Black Powder Pistols have been resolved on this forum already.
Saw-offed shotguns and rifles, and machine guns are not in question.

So, is it illegal to carry our non-concealable weapons: rifles, shotguns, swords, etc. in public?

If I saw someone in an urban area wandering around, packing any of those firearms, or cultery, I would first get to cover, call 911, then find a weapon. If they are cased, and in the process of transport, or retail, then have at it. Long guns are serious tools. We had a poster in here while back who enjoyed making statments with a portable AK painted orange in public areas. IMO, he needed professional help.
IMO, long guns in the fields, and woods. Target range. What you going to do with that sword? I think they are great addition to a collection. I wouldn't be waving it around in public.
Few years ago, some guy went funny in the head, and in the middle of a bridge, confronted three LEO's with a saber. Each of them put a magazine ofFederal 9mm +p+ PBPLE in the perp.
Legal to carry these items? in some places they may be. Not where i live.
