Can non-residents open carry in Wisconsin? What are the rules governing transport of your firearm, or where must the firearm be located while in the car?
Any help is appreciated.

Not true at all. There is no distinction between a resident and non-resident. Open carry is legal for anyone not prohibited from possessing a firearm.from what i am told , u cannot ( a non-resident ) open carry in WI.
This may have been the case in the past, and can still happen on occasion, but it is becoming more and more widely accepted. In fact, the WI DOJ released this memo last year to clarify what constitutes "disorderly conduct". Of particular importance are the last 2 paragraphs. Essentially, there must be reasonable suspicion that a crime is afoot in order to detain you. Otherwise, any information requested of you may be refused and you must be at liberty to go free....some NRA instructors from WI. told me this a few weeks ago. WI residents who do always get hassled. they r taken in for about usually 3-4 hours.even though it is perfectly legal for them to open carry.the cops then say they r checking on them.even though it is legal , the leo's r trying to make a point. u carry, were gonna make it miserable for you
The firearm must be unloaded and securely fastened within a commercial gun case. Beyond that, it may be anywhere in the vehicle. Loaded is defined in WI as a round in the chamber or cylinders or an attached magazine. What are the rules governing transport of your firearm, or where must the firearm be located while in the car?

It's interesting that in some open carry states, you can't have access to a weapon in your car or boat. Here in SC, anyone who can legally own a handgun can keep it loaded in the car, as long as it is in a console or glovebox. We do not have open carry per se, but you can open carry if going to or coming from hunting, fishing, or a gun range. In WI it looks like you can walk around carrying openly, by when you get in the car, boat, or airplane, you must unload your weapon and put it out of reach. Hopefully we all will continue to evolve to few limitations on legal, responsible gun owners.
So then if i was to drive from PA (home) to FL...SC does not honor my PA license...all i would need to do his take pistol off my hip and stick it in the glove box? yes...thats the way i read it Link Removed
