It is a tragedy to think that so many people don't even understand how a firearm actually works. If they had a clue on what makes a gun so dangerous in the 1st place then it would become a different topic of discussion. Unfortunately for the people that do understand we can't get a word in edgewise because of the rhetoric being thrown around by these people, who decide they are the ones to make law abiding citizens into criminals is an outrage plain and simple. I for one am sick and tired of this kind of attack on our Constitutional, unalienable right to keep and bear arms, which our fore fathers had enough sense not to limit it, but had the sight to word it in a manner that would coincide with the military as is stated!

Exactly what do you mean by that? The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with the US Military, if that is what you are implying. The word in the 2nd Amendment is "militia", not military. Two entirely different words with entirely different meanings.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state," is a very true statement. Who is the militia?

The importance of the militia in the ability to maintain the security of a free state is declared in the Declaration of Independece:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Who was the 2nd Amendment written by? The 2nd Amendment was written by some of the very members of the "militia" that had just succeeded in a violent overthrow of their previous government. The 2nd Amendment was written to guarantee that the citizens would not be helpless to have their unalienable rights deprived from them by the actions of any governemnt - whether that government be a foreign government, or their own government.

One must also understand what "well regulated" means in this context. Regulated does not mean licenses, permits, background checks, and where a person can and cannot carry a firearm. Regulated in this context means to control in order to make useful. A scuba diver's or firefighter's air tanks hold air that is under such pressure that it is unuasble for the purpose intended. It is not until that air is regulated that it becomes useful. The meaning is the same in the 2nd Amendment. 10,000 men under arms going in 10,000 different directions with 10,000 individual and personal missions cannot accomplish anything towards maintaining the security of a free state. It is only when those 10,000 men are "regulated" towards one goal, mission and purpose do they become powerful.

You say "our forefathers had enough sense"------. Let me tell you something cw. Our Forefathers had way more than enough sense. They had more sense than anyone in political office now, ever had, or ever wished to have. ALL of them supported the second amendment, and supported it by putting their, and their families lives on the line. What politician will do that today? Short answer, NONE.

To paraphrase one of them, "when people figure they can vote themselves money, that will be the end of our Republic". That's the point where we are at now. I really don't know what can be done to save the Republic, unless all good men and women come to her aid by voting out all of the career politicians who do not support our constitution. We know who they are, we need to get rid of them!

I see (gasp) Hillary in our future unless we can turn things around. She is one of the most communist, anti-American, anti-constitutionalist people you will find on this side of the pond, or in the world, for that matter. If she's elected----we're done, toasted, finished, etc.

The *last* election? Really? Look at the bold part above. We started "voting ourselves money" at least as early as FDR with the advent of SSI and the rest of the New Deal. Who is willing to give up their "rights" to SSI when they retire around here now? Not many, if any, I can tell you that for sure from past discussions.

In 1913 we "voted" to spread the wealth via an income tax. It, via the 16th Amendment, along with the 17th Amendment, was a farce of a vote, and completely illegal in its "passage," but if for no other reason than 100 years of precedent, we accept the government stealing 25% or more of our income to hand out to those who didn't earn it, and popular voting for Senators, as valid law without even questioning it now.

The last election was nothing more than the singing of Amazing Grace at the grave-site of America. It was over long before then, and has no chance whatsoever of ever being restored by voting from here on out. There is no system in place which can overcome the total usurpation of the Constitution which The People have allowed to take place. The only possible "system-compliant" thing that could conceivably make a difference would be the implementation of the full width and breadth of the original meaning of the 2nd Amendment. Forget about that though. No one around here can even say they don't trust cops without getting a ration of crap, so gun owners taking on the overall government ain't likely to happen. Everyone should just sit back and watch what their apathy and immorality has brought upon this once great nation. It's about to get ugly, and there's nothing on this planet that anyone can do about it.

It's going to be hard to beat what we have now. People will vote for her just because she is a woman just like people voted for Obama because he is black. If she runs I do think she will win.

I think you are correct. Especially with the government shutdown fiasco that is getting blamed on the Republicans. I think we really have no hope left. I believe it is just a waiting game until our government travels down the same road the USSR did and collapses in the same way. Looks like it will probably happen in our children's lifetime and maybe even some of ours.
