open carry encounter

I get that same feeling on days my phone dies prematurely...hoping that that day is not the day I need it...I've lucked out so far..but I really need an extra battery for my phone asap. Beware though, if you record it, you run a good chance of being labeled confrontational and/or an escalator.

Thank God we don't have that sort of problem here in Virginia.

I live in LA also and use that boat ramp all the time - from my understanding of State Law, it is an Open carry state - and you don't even need to have a permit to open carry. you only need a permit to carry concealed. The levee district police, even though are post certified, are very limited in jurisdiction. 16 active and 25 reserve cops in that deparatment. guarantee you that this cop didnt know any better. even if they do take your permit away, you would get it back within 5 minutes of standing before a judge.

Whare I messed up is that day I did not have my recorder on me so I did not get the encounter on tape I wish I had.

From what I can tell, unless you were OC-ing in prohibited place, you have done nothing wrong. You need to contact an attorney if you haven't already- especially if charges have been filed.

Sounds like incompetent enforcement to me.
